Clair de Lune plays softly in the background.
Sunlight diffuses equally inside the industrial interior, as barista's scuffle their way to prepare more coffee's and tea scented drinks. The ceilings seem to shine as never before, indulging in a world of natural light.
The background chatters have simmered and softened into hushed whispers. Pearl blush tea cups clank against the copper table. The sound sends an odd pleasant sensation to the ears. One could listen and dive into the noises of objects for the whole day without feeling irritated.
A silver cup of freshly served lavender tea is served to a female customer, who thanks the waiter with her genuine smile. The waiter bows down nervously before scuttling back to the counter. She giggles once more before continuing on with her work. Piles of papers were neatly arranged on one side and she focuses typing on her laptop.
She discreetly blows the heat with her breath before taking one sip.
A Mother, with her two young children share a plate of chocolate cake toppled with extra chocolate toppings. A layer of white crisped frosting is served to the youngest, who meekly grins. The Mother cleans her child's mouth in one sweep of the napkin before cutting another portion for the other child.
They sit obediently whilst scribbling their crayons onto the coloring book.
Mere softness and warmth grazes over my palm and I tear my thoughts away from my calming surroundings. I glanced at the object caressed on my right hand, which were feathers on the tip of a pen.
"Now that you've mentioned it Sul Hee, our friend here tends to doze out a lot. She responded with 'chicken' a while ago when I asked what career she's aiming for."
Sul Hee snorts the cold green tea, scrambling to reach for her napkin before the rest spills out. My hands hover for the caramel cookie, taking a small bite as I watched Sul Hee regain her composure. Hei Ryung is trying her best not to laugh, but manages to snicker.
"Can you not be funny when I'm drinking? I swear to the llama's, this always happens whenever I'm drinking tea." Sul Hee sniffles, patting the liquid on her lips.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Nobody asked you to laugh at what I said. I just simply stated something that didn't need to be laughed at." She shrugs her shoulders and I reach out for another piece of cookie.
Sul Hee pretends to flick her hair, which has become quite short since two to three days ago.
From dusk to dawn, I had been waiting and contemplating on what to say in case Father decides to return the call. I've been on this moment since he gave me his card. I wasn't hesitant about calling my own Father. There was no courage required for me to attempt to make the call.
The only concern that worries me is whether I should return back to that huge sector once more. I didn't like the feeling of going back there.
I had once imagined running into the warm arms of my Father. I recalled how crystal clear it was that I ended up tearing in glee. My head wanted to prolong the dream, but it was only a dream. I imagined his laughter bouncing from one corner to another.
Maybe, it belonged to Father back then when I was only a child. It rang quite vividly in my ears.
My heart had throbbed in joy just to hear my guardian laugh in absolute contentment.
"MinYoung, girl, stop. You're going to eat your hands if you don't focus on chewing what you're eating." Sul Hee's familiar voice rings back and she pulls my fingers away from my mouth. I haven't been able to focus much since yesterday. SeokJin was acting weird, or it was I who acted strange.
