I'm just ... blindly walking where it felt right.
My ears were pressured from before, but it's easy to hear things clearly.
To bear such heavy responsibility like this is unimaginable. What choices I make, no matter how small or quick or fast, it can deliberately affect the events following towards the future. SeokJin and his family members, their lives probably depend on the speed that I'm walking at.
I noticed on the notes that Father gave me. It was the rooms where both victims probably are. Jungkook is no where on sight. Just by the short encounter last time, he seemed to be the type to kid around mostly. I can't make assumptions on the first judgement.
After stepping out of the lift, I expected scientists to be shocked at my appearance.
Instead, unharmed bodies that unconsciously fell asleep were lying around. If the underground levels have electric backups, then that means the cameras are still rolling. A few of them are installed on a corner for each corridor, but that doesn't mean they can't be erased.
Is that why Father had to part ways from me as I search for SeokJin and his family? In order to bail them out, I just need to enter these keywords into the system?
Is that it?
The narrow corridor makes a turn to both directions and regardless of the scribbled map, I follow to the left side. Various rooms of different purposes were marked clearly. It wasn't troubling for me to walk past through several passageways. It was also eerily quiet. A few bodies of the staffs were all lying on their stomachs and backs.
This scenery should horrify me, but what's even more frightening is the idea of cloning human beings at their weakest state.
As I amble myself closer to the large 'X' marked on the map, I suspect this is where his family members are. I fish for the access tag out and tap it on the scanner. Automatically, the door slides open and a waft of the familiar hospital smell wavers to my face. I should consider it normal as I've taken regular trips to the hospital.
This smell is a bit too much on the intensity. The sterilization is strong too as well as the cleaning products. It's mostly lime and lemon.
"Yo! Guess she finally arrived."
I almost jump at the sudden burst of contentment. I didn't realise whose voice it belonged to.
"MinYoung. Over here." He repeats once more and I enter the Subject Zone. The place itself contradicts so much to the corridors out there. It's like a science fiction, type of fantasy setting kind of zone. It's interesting, but scary in a sense too.
By walking closer to the center, I notice several furry figures inching their way closer to the steel bars. I hear their whimpers and not growls. It's self-explanatory, considering other bodies lying around.
As someone as clueless as me, are they perhaps unable to escape because of the bars? Has it been electrocuted purposely to prevent them from trying anything?
"Jungkook?" I unconsciously mumble, examining where the voice came from out of all ten cages. Somehow, my stomach begins to twist at this sight. They're not one bit comfortable and I agree nonetheless.
"I'm here." He mumbles again and out of all the cages, one seems to not appear in clear view. It's shadowed from the lack of light. I'm not sure whether it was Jungkook or not, but I must act fast. Once the situation seems settled and trustworthy, I head to the small room on the right by tapping the card once more.
"Please hurry up, my brother can't suppress their consciousness much longer."
Several computer screens lit up waiting for a password. The door automatically closes and I begin to work with the help of Father's notes.
