Chapter 19

Jade’s P.O.V.

‘Louis, that was beautiful.’ I felt his eyes soften and I laughed lightly. He actually thought I would be mad at him for what he did? I doubt any girl in the world would be mad, least of all me.

I can’t even tell you how much I want to kiss him right now, but something he said out there kept on repeating in my mind like a broken record; I love her like a sister. I should have already guessed, but hearing from the man himself confirmed it definatly. He doesn’t love me the way I love him. And there was nothing I could do about it.

‘So you're not going to kill me and put my head on a pike?’ he asked, smiling. I smiled back at him the best I could, it hurt my cheeks. Lou obviously noticed because worry and guilt flooded his eyes. I waved my hand dismissively but he just caught my wrist and pulled me back around to face him. ‘Jade, did she hit you?’

I nodded sheepishly at him. He was going to find out sooner or later wasn't he?

‘Jade…’ he said softly as he pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my tender arms around his torso and he played with my hair. In that moment, it was just me and him. In that moment, a bomb could’ve gone off right beside me and I wouldn’t have noticed. In that moment, the outside word didn’t matter. I realised I now have everything I want. I have an amazing job, a place to live, awesome friends, a pay-check every Friday, and it was all because of the man in my arms. I owe my life to him, well maybe not my life, but my current predicament. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.

‘Louis, it’s fine honestly it doesn’t hurt that bad.’ I lied into his face. It hurt like hell; every time I moved my jaw a stinging sensation would erupt in my cheeks, eventually spreading over my whole face. It wasn't pleasant, I can tell you that.

‘I can tell you're lying.’ Le looked into my eyes. I raised an eyebrow at him and he smiled. ‘There’s a little vein in your neck that pops every time you lie.’

He poked the vein and I squirmed. He knew me that well? Oh right…

‘Did you tell the boys what happened yet?’ I asked. Truth be told, I don’t want to be there when he tells them. I don’t want the whole “Oh my god Jade are you all right?” thing.

‘No, I was about to go and tell them now, but Anna wants you, do you mind if I do it without you?’ I shook my head and he smiled. He pulled me in for one last bear hug and then strode off down the hall, shaking his hips on purpose. I just laughed at him, but dear lord, that ass? Hmm…

I strode into the make-up lounge to be wrapped into two warm feminine arms. I knew just by the perfume that it was Anna, but why was she hugging me? She wasn't the hugging type, as you may have guessed.

‘Oh good lord Jade, why didn’t you call for me?’ she held me at arm’s length and studied my face, ‘I would’ve whooped that Bel Air right in the tushie.’

‘I'm guessing you heard?’ I asked, hanging my head. I hated that I didn’t defend myself like Anna could, but I'm not as strong as Anna, in any shape or form.

‘Eleanor paid me a little visit before she left, I'm afraid.’ She smiled at me. Oh god, what did she do to her?

‘What happened?’ I asked, alarmed. I didn’t want Anna getting into trouble for this, none of it is her problem.

‘Let’s just say that if Jamie wasn't here to restrain me, that little cu*t would be in hospital.’ She clenched both her jaw and her fists. I just laughed and she relaxed, laughing as well.

Suddenly, the door burst open and four flustered and concerned boys stood before me. There was a second’s silence, and then I was tackled into a group, me in the middle.
