As the dark came, the lamps in the room felt like it got brighter. The curtains on the windows closed itself as I sat up, rubbing my eyes from attempting to close again. I pulled myself on my elbows and looked around, seeing the dark purple of the walls come alive as the red-lighted lamps danced on the walls. There was soon a knock on the door and it opened it a bit.

"Candy?" Austin asked, shyness in his voice.

"Come in," I said as I ran one of my hands through my hair, him opening the door enough to get in, looking at me before he came in, a big in his hand.

"I got you food," he said, walking to the bed, setting the bag on the bed and looked at my body, trying to make me not notice. "How did you sleep?"

"Magic," I joked, sitting all the way, "No but, pretty good."

"That's good," he said, putting his hands behind his back, looking at my face.

"You can sit down," I said, patting the bed next to me.

He didn't even nod, just moved his hands from behind his back and sat down, his legs hanging off the bed, crossing them as I opened the bag, pulling out the fries. Austin didn't seem to look while I ate, just around me or at the window. I grabbed one of my fries and held it out to him.

"You wanna eat?" I asked

"I don't eat human food," he said. Stupid, for a quick second I forgot he wasn't human, stupid me.

"You're not stupid," he said, looking at me, "I'll probably drink later, anyways."

"What is it like, drinking?

This time he bit his lip, trying to think of what to say, or if he should even talk to me about it at all. He looked away and to the floor.

"There's blood in the second fridge in the kitchen, I rarely drink, and when I do, I can't control what happens. My mind gets fizzy like I'm flat out wasted, and I tend to..."

I knew the next part and just nodded, looking down at the food that I didn't feel like eating anymore.

"I won't let myself get that far..." he trailed off. I didn't know if I believed him, but he sounded like he didn't even believe himself.

"Can I ask you a question?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Sure," he said quickly,

"What are your friends' marks?" I asked

"Alex's is fire, it stands for Fearless. Alex is not afraid to show his emotions through words or actions. Robert's is Wind, it stands for Breathing, he can give life to anyone who needs it. Zach's is Air, it stands for Braveness, he's the one that fights for anything and everything, but he still regrets about it sometimes. And Tyler's is Ice, it stands for power, he can control the weather in the area he's in." he said

"Is Mr. Black's mark all of thee?" I asked

"Yeah," he said, running his two fingers against his inner arm.

I could tell he didn't want to go any further, so again, I left it. I continued eating my food in silence as he sat next to me, his back facing me. His body tensed up whenever I made the slightest of moves, but he didn't leave me. He was trapped in his thoughts and I didn't want to bolt it and crush the things he's thinking of. So I gently laid back down and closed my eyes for a minute, feeling the soft sheets turn into pokey strings. I opened my eyes to see myself on green grass, a tree's shade over me, protecting me from the sun. I quickly sat up, realizing that I was in an open space of green, trees all around me in a circle. I looked over to my left, seeing Austin smiling big, running towards me. He was wearing all white as the sun hit him, his pale skin not reacting to the heat. By then he reached me as he stood over me, holding his hand out for me.
