I finally made it home after thirty minutes, and once I was home I threw my backpack on the couch and kicked off my shoes. I sat down on the couch and grabbed the remote, turning on the TV as I got up after a few minutes and walked into the kitchen. I opened the fridge and didn't really find anything besides, milk, eggs, and leftovers. I sighed and closed the fridge, walking over to the cupboards and finding a pack of Oreos.

"Bingo," I said and grabbed the pack.

I peeled back the covering and took in a deep breath. I was the first one to open this package and it was so satisfying to open it for the first time. The smallest of things make me happy, sadly. I think it's because I don't have actual people to make me happy that I find joy in the stupidest and childish things. I take an Oreo out and put it in my mouth as I make my way back to the living room, sitting down on the couch and watching what was on the TV.

"And you can tell here that Utah has already been hit with tornadoes over the past week, and it looks like Colorado will get hit next," The weatherman reported.

I just sat there and watched the TV, filling Oreos in my mouth as the sun outside began to fade away, an hour or two passing without me even noticing. I pulled out my phone to see the time and noticed it was late. My mind wondered to Austin if he was still gonna come over or not. Well, I was dumb and didn't get his number so how would I know. I checked my phone again.

7:15 pm

I sighed and grabbed the remote, turning off the TV. I sat the remote down and stood up, leaving the pack of Oreos on the table as I made my way upstairs. I opened the door to my room and grabbed my book that was laying on my bed. I quickly made my way back down the stairs and sat back down on the couch, my knee to my chest as I opened the book to where I had left off. I sighed and clicked the button on my phone.

8:35 pm

I sighed, putting the piece of paper that was my bookmark back in and closed the book. I sat the book down on the table and was about to make it to the hallway when I heard a car pull up. It didn't sound like my parents, for it was loud and it sounded a little fancy. I stood there for a moment and didn't hear anything else. I shook my head and made one step down the hallway when I heard the doorbell ring. I turned around and faced the living room and sighed.

"Okay, dude," I spoke to myself as I made my way to the door, opening it and seeing Austin. He gave me a quick smile.

"It's a little late," I said

"No, it's not," he said with another small smile "it's only six fifty- six,"

"What?" I asked as he pulled out his phone and showed me.

6:57 pm

"Unless you start to call five late, then you're old," he said, putting his phone back into his pocket.

I was still confused and looked behind me, seeing my phone on the couch, I then looked back at Austin, "I guess my phone's off."

He smiled again, "Don't worry. May I come in?"

"Oh shit, yea, sorry," I said, stepping out of his way and letting him in. Once he was inside, I closed the door behind him.

He put his hands behind his back again and looked around, he looked liked he was studying the place or he was hard at the color choice because he stared at everything he caught by his eye.

"Did you have a good ride up here?" I asked trying to avoid the silence.

He looked back at me and nodded with a smile, "Very much. You do live a long way out, but I don't mind long car rides."
