The next morning was what seemed like a casual day. I had gotten dressed in a black lace long sleeve and a long high waisted shirt that reached the door, as well as some black lace socks; I had found them on the purple couch in my room when I woke up this morning. Normally I wouldn't wear such dark colors, but it felt so wrong to wear something bright in a place like this and I didn't want to wear something different than what was picked out for me. I had met Austin in Robert's room, Robert sitting on a victorian red and brown sofa. Alex was sitting next to him as Austin stood by them, his arms folded in the front. Once I looked in, they all stopped talking and looked at me. They all wore fancy victorian suits. Black pants, long sleeve undershirt, and vests. The rooms in the house were pretty much the same except for mine, which had a bed. The walls a dark purple had dressers and walk-in closet, sofas, and chairs filled the spot where a bed should be. Austin gave me a small smile as Robert killed off his laugh slowly and Alex just stared at me. His face gave a look of apologizes and guilt but at the same time a fighting face.
"Sorry," I said, touching the door frame.
"Don't be sorry," Robert said, Austin turning around so that his body could face me.
"Does anyone know where the medicine cabinet is?" I asked
They all stopped and continued looking at me,
"I just have a headache," I said quietly
Austin looked at Robert and Alex, seeing them look at him.
"It's just a headache," I said as they all looked back at me
And at the moment, the lights started to flicker. Everyone looked at the lamps and the hallway lights behind me as they began to quicken. The dresser and nightstand started to shake as Robert and Alex stood up.
"He's here," Robert said as him and Alex ran out the room, besides me. I watched them run the corner and down the first few steps, their frames following them.
I looked back at Austin, seeing him looking down, he was sad and upset, he didn't like what was gonna come next for him, I wouldn't blame him. I had fear running through me, and I didn't have to ask to know who was coming. Austin looked back up and ran his eyes from my feet to my eyes, giving me a small smile before he walked to me.
"Let's go meet them," he said, moving his hand up, the back of his index finger running down my face from my temple to my chin making my breath hitch.
He soon moved away and slowly grabbed my hand before we walked out of the room, rounding the rail and stepping down the first few steps when he let it go and went first, causing him to be at my right as the lights stopped flickering and things stopped shaking. My eyes caught the three figures in the doorway entrance, the bright lights coming and shining on them. In the middle was a strong built black man, his hair in dreads as his hands were resting on a walking cane, a lion's head on top. All three were wearing shades. The man to his left was a skinny white male, his hair buzzcut as his hands were folded in front of him. The man to his right was a tall black man, his hands also folded in front of him. The man in the middle removed his right hand from his cane, taking off his glasses, looking at the vampire boys in front of him. He smiled at them until his hazel eyes meet him, and he watched me in awe. He then held his hand out, the sunglasses in between his index and middle finger.
"My lady," he said as Robert and Alex looked at me.
I just stood there, my mouth begining to drop as my headache disappeared and my eyes became a bit fuzzy. I saw from the corner of my eye, Austin leaning his head into mine, his breath on my ear.
"It's okay, go," Austin said, breaking my gaze with the man downstairs, causing me to look at Austin. Austin leaned back in his spot, his eyes not leaving mine as he gave me a small smile.
I looked back at the man downstairs and slowly walked down the steps, walking passed Alex and Robert, whose hands were also folded in front of them. I made it down the stairs and reached out for the man's hand, hesitating before I put my hand in his. He grinned as he pulled me towards him lightly, our hands pointing out to the side of us. He gave his cane to the man to his left before he put it on my back. He began spinning us around, dancing as I couldn't help but smile. We danced for a second before he stopped and looked at me.
"Candy, it's an honor to meet you," he said
"You too, Mr. Black," I said quietly
My hand that he held before was pressed against his lips as he gave it a light peak. He moved my hand away and smiled at me, letting me go completely. He faced back at the boys and reached his hand out again.
"Alex," he said
Alex looked down and walked to Mr. Black. Once in front of him, Mr. Black looked at him with such sorrow. His hand touched the boys face as he looked him in his eyes, "Me paenitet, pure meus."
I'm sorry, my child.
Alex gave a fake smile and nodded, closing his eyes, trying not to cry in front of the man. But all the man did was pull Alex in for a hug as Alex began crying. After a minute, Mr. Black pulled back and looked Alex in the face again, before taking his fingers around Alex's collar and putting his fingers between Alex's skin and his collar; a second later, Mr. Black pulled out the crystal jar of Tyler's ashes. He held it for a moment before laying it on top of Alex's shirt.
"Ostende superbia, puer meus," Mr. Black said as Alex nodded, agreeing.
Show pride, my child.
Alex stood by me, wiping a tear from his eye before looking straight ahead and folded his hands in front of him. I felt really bad for him, I've never met Tyler but I feel like he would have treated Alex with so much love and care for the boy. Mr. Black held out his hand again,
"Robert," he said as Robert fastly ran down the stairs as he stood in front of Mr. Black, his hands being placed on Robert's shoulders. "Mea puer ego gratias ago tibi quia in via showing novi Ut hospitis nostri."
My child, I thank you for showing the ways to our new guest.
Robert nodded happily and looked at me with a smile. He then came and stood next to me.
"Austin," Mr. Black said, reaching out his hand for the last time.
Austin walked down the steps and stood in front of Mr. Black. They looked at each for a minute. "Tu quoque mi fili,"
Austin looked down, feeling like what he did was wrong and that he shouldn't have done it. Mr. Black placed his hand on Austin's chin, lifting his head up; looking more in his eyes.
"Ego vere fecit. Nos tibi post verba...Non concurrunt."
You did well my son. I really did. We'll talk later...Without interruptions.
I couldn't help but look down, fidgeting with my fingers. Something told me that Austin really wasn't supposed to get me so early, but then why did he?
Austin nodded and looked back down as Mr. Black let go of his chin.
"Now," Mr. Black said looking at us, then me, "Let's get started, shall we?"
