I opened my eyes to see the sunlight reflecting on the ceiling. The heat filling the room as it shadowed across my blanket that made it to my chest, the heat fighting with the coldness of my body. I turned my head to look at the window, seeing that it was midday. A black crow sat on the window frame, resting while it looked around, turning to look at me before chirping. I moved the blanket off of me and stood up, feeling the sore feeling surround my back as I placed my hand on my shoulder, feeling the top of the imprint tree on my should blade. Trying to get my mind off of the pain, I slowly walked to the window, the crow still chirping. I grabbed the small white handle and opened the side of the window, the door going out of the house. The crow moved towards the opening and continued to look at me. I smiled as I slowly placed the back of my index finger on its head, it closing its eyes as I started to pet it. The crow moved his head just a bit, seeing the sunlight reflect on a metal piece that laid on his chest. I stopped petting it as I took the metal in my hand, seeing the crow wearing a small collar around his neck, a name tap in my hand. In cursive writing, Hargrove was engraved in the name tag."Hargrove, what a beautiful creature you are," I said quietly as the bird opened his eyes and looked at me. I could have sworn it gave me a smile before he turned around and flew off.
I watched as he disappeared, joining his crow friends before I placed my hand on the handle, swinging the door back to me, closing the window. I turned around and started to walk towards the door, noticing a long black Victorian dress hanging on the hooks on the back of the door, a note appeared to be on it. I continued walking to the door to see black platforms with a star in them by the bottom of the door. I looked back up at the note and slowly took it.
Love,
Meet me in the garden, there awaits a surprise.
- AustinI smiled as I gently took the note off the dress and stared at it for a bit, studying his perfect yet sloppy handwriting. I sat the note on the velvet couch next to the wall and grabbed the dress, quickly changing into it. I bent down and grabbed the shoes, carefully putting them on as my height grew. I stopped for a second and straightened out the dress really quick before opening the door. I made it down the hallway and to the stairs, my hand on the rail as I slowly walked down. Once at the bottom of the stairs, I turned the corner to see Robert leaning up against the back glass door, him in black dress pants, black dress shoes, white button-up shirt with black suspenders, a bowtie around his neck. His fingers turning the toothpick that was in his mouth. He turned to me and smiled.
"How are you feeling?" Robert asked as I walked to him.
"A little sore," I admitted, looking at the glass door to see a little fog, the grass and trees were dead.
"I never seen imprints take a tole on someone like that," he said, sticking the toothpick back into his mouth.
I looked at him this time, "What do you mean?"
He looked back at me, grabbing his toothpick, "You've been out for two days. The imprints came all at once, I have never seen it happen before."
I looked at him a bit shocked. I tried thinking about it but all I remember was Robert putting me in bed after he came in, it seemed like only yesterday.
"At least you're okay," he said, putting the toothpick in the side of his mouth, slowly taking my hand, catching me off guard, "Let's go, they're waiting for us."
I watched him as he looked at the door, opening it until it was fully open, my mouth dropped in amazement as I saw the grass was green and the trees were alive again. Bushes lined up on each side of the door, creating a walkway as stones filled the inside. The garden was a little narrow, but it went a long way. Robert walked out first as I followed, taking in everything. There was a little fog overhead but not as much as I saw before we came outside. I looked straight ahead and in the distance I saw Alex, leaning over his golf club, swinging it up as he hit the ball, causing it to go into the hole. Austin's back faced us, his hand on the club that touched the ground. I noticed that all three boys were wearing the same thing, expect Alex And Austin were wearing black long ties. We continued walking down the garden to them as more trees were noticeable, some revealing ripe fruit as the sun beamed down at us. I felt Robert pull away as the two boys saw us coming. Alex gave a little wave as Austin gave his small smile, putting both his arms behind his back. Robert stood on the other side of Austin as I stood in front of them.
"My lady," Robert joked, putting his hand towards the two boys, Alex scratched his head, looking down as he blushed, but Austin still had his eyes on me.
Alex was the first to make a move, walking up to me, running his fingers through my hair as he laid a gentle kiss on my cheek. "Hello, my angel."
"Hello, Xan," I replied, seeing him blush As Austin smiled.
"I'm sorry for the other day," he whispered, and I knew what day he meant, "I should've left sooner, I didn't think-"
"It's alright," I said as sympathy filled his face, "I know you didn't know when it was gonna happen."
Alex gave a small smile before looking at Austin.
"Love," Austin said
"Aussy," I replied as his small smile appeared bigger than normal.
"When's my nickname gonna come in?" Robert asked as Alex chuckled.
I looked at Robert with a small, "Rob? Bob?"
"Bobert?" Alex cut in with a laugh
Robert looked down and sighed with a small, "Nevermind, I don't want a boring nickname."
We all laughed for a bit before we heard footsteps coming from behind us. Alex and Austin looked at the people as I turned around, seeing Father in front of a group of people. Father stopped and placed his cane on the ground, placing his hands on top of the lion's head. He gave a small smile that seemed like he had to face. I looked at the people behind him, seeing Alex, Troy, Aly, Daryl, Angel, Ethan, Jacus, Kelly, Rose, and Rico; the Sheikah pack.
"Children, we have guests," Father said
I felt someone looking at me like how Alex stared at me that day at school. My eyes slowly ran over their faces before I met Aly's eyes for a second before she looked me up and down, studying me, meeting my eyes. We stared at each other for a bit before Robert walked past me and the boys, walking to father and the Sheikah pack. I felt Alex's arm wrap around my waist as Austin slowly grabbed my hand, us slowly beginning to follow behind Robert. I felt some of the boys of their pack stare at us as we made our way towards them, Rico leaning towards Rose and whispering into his ear, Rose looking down as he smiled, trying hard to hold back laughter. Once we made it to them. Daryl looked at me and gave a small smirk, nodding his head.
"Candy," father said, "Behold, Skeikah."
"She looks different than what I saw," Daryl said, looking me up and down, smirking as he met my gaze.
I felt Austin's hand squeeze mine a bit as Alex's arm wrapped tighter around me; protectiveness coming through on both their sides.
"Be careful with your words, Daryl," father said, looking at him, "her men will not hesitate to kill."
Daryl chuckled, "You know I'm kidding, Jake,"
Father looked away and forced another small smile. It was noticeable that the pack came unannounced and that their dislikes were strong, and I couldn't help but think it was my fault that they came; because they wanted to test me out.
"Let's go in for a drink, shall we?" father asked, looking at his children and then the other pack behind me.
Father walked through the pack, them following as Austin placed a kiss on the side of my face, telling me not to worry about my thoughts. We followed behind.
