"We just act like we didn't know they were coming," Robert said, looking at me as I paced across from him.
"But father has the radar, doesn't the other packs too?" I asked
"Not necessarily," he said as I walked passed him.
Robert and I were in the kitchen, him sitting on the countertop by the stove in the center of the room. He ran his short fingers across the blades of one of his daggers from his knife collection, him studying the metal as he took long looks on both sides. I paced back and forth, worried at the whole situation of the Sheikah pack coming to visit, wanting to see me grow during my stages of turning. I was also worried at the thought that Austin just left me. Ever since last night, it hasn't even looked or spoke to me; him too worried that he might do something to me that he wouldn't want to do, but what I want to do it? I put my knuckles to my lips and watched the floor as I moved back and forth.
"He doesn't hate you, you know," Robert said
I stopped pacing, slowly looking at him.
"Is it that obvious?" I asked, removing my knuckles
"Engravers are normally like this when Heating starts," he said, putting his knife down on his thigh, "You think right now is bad-
"Just wait because there will be two men after you, I know," I said, starting to pace again, "Do you really think they will test their newbie against me?
He looked at the floor, his eyebrows frowned, "I'm not sure, your kind of the first ones that have turned with someone else."
I rolled my eyes; everything is just a little too much right now. Austin taking me from my life, finding out that I'm different and is slowly turning into a Vampire, learning about the history like it's no big deal and having to deal with this on my own. I'm too different from the rest, and that was something that I hated, but enjoyed a little at the same time.
"If it makes you feel any better, I was engraved while turning,"
I stopped again and stared at him this time, him looking back into my eyes, "You're serious?"
He nodded and a small smile appeared on his face.
"And you just decided to tell me now?" I asked
He chuckled, putting his pointer finger up and moving it in a circle "Girls don't normally engrave on newly turned Vampires, it's the opposite."
"Well, what happened?" I asked, my mind calming down.
He patted the area next to him as I walked over and jumped up on the counter, sitting down next to him.
"She didn't know it really until I felt it," he said
"She was human?" I asked
He nodded, "They just call it love, but you feel it when someone engraved on you."
"I didn't," I said, getting a bit concerned.
He looked at me this time, "The men do,"
I looked away and bit down,
"Just a hormone thing, I guess," he said
"I hate this," I said, looking up and staring at the wall across from me.
"We all do, the beginning process is kind of shit," he said as I gave out a laugh.
At that moment, the brown-haired boy walked through the entryway, looking at me first and then Robert. Robert stopped his laugh as Austin turned to face him. He put his arms behind me and gave a small shy smile, which I gladly returned. And it faded as Mr. Black came in, Alex following.
