In the basement was a huge wine cellar, and a long dark brown wooden table that had victorian chairs sat beside it. I didn't even know there was a basement until I walked down the wooden stairs from the door that was under the main stairs by the backdown, Robert was standing in front of it when I came up to him this morning. The Sheikah pack filled one side of the table and three chairs on the side were my brothers and I sat. Father was on the end of one table as Daryl was on the other. Glass skull cups sat before us as father's men went around the table, pouring the liquor in our cups. One of his men made it to Aly, who sat on the end by Daryl. The man was about to pour her a drink when Daryl' hand made it over the top of the cup.
"Water for this one," Daryl said as Aly looked at me surprised a bit, but looked down at her drink. Daryl's eyes made it to father's, "She can't celebrate something she hasn't won yet, I advise you do the same."
Daryl than looked at me as he moved his hand, leaning back in his chair as the other man poured water into Aly' cup. I swallowed hard and looked away.
"Candy can have a drink, for I know she will win," father said, putting his cup to his lips, taking a sip
"Really? You wanna bet?" Daryl laughed as he drank some of his drink. That was the end of that conversation.
"How was the trip?" father asked
"Pretty good, still not used to that much running," Daryl said
"You've been running for 50 years now, do you think you could ever get used to it?" father asked, as I picked up my cup, taking a drink of the rich red wine that had aged well.
"Probably not," Daryl said as father's men put baskets of bread on each side of the table. Rose and Angel grabbed a piece of bread for themselves.
I looked at the pack as Austin grabbed some bread, reaching around me, giving it to Alex as Alex slowly took it, ripping it apart before taking a slow bite. Austin then took another piece and held it out for me.
"I thought we couldn't eat actual food," I whispered at him
"It's not actually bread," he gave one of his small smiles as I grabbed it. Putting his arm on the back of my chair, turning to watch me as he blocked my left side.
I looked down at it, seeing that it really just looked like bread. I looked up to see father looking at me, him waiting for my reaction it seemed like. I slowly put it to my mouth and took a bite. At first, it tasted like a gummy substance with no taste, but then the taste of blood filled my mouth. I didn't know whether to panic or eat more, because I have never had blood at all since I turned.
"It's okay," Austin said, as Alex put his hand on my thigh, "It's not actually blood,"
I swallowed the piece and bit the piece down, rubbing my hands together as father looked away, thoughts filling his head. The urge to drink has never come up at all, but after this food, it was now in the back of my mind.
"So," Angel said, who was sitting across from me, putting his elbows on the table as his fingers interlocked with each other, "How did you get two men on your side?"
I felt all eyes on us as Alex's body became tense, I knew he had become nervous by that question.
"I'm just curious you know," Angel said "I've been trying to get another man in my group for some time now,"
Rose, who was sitting next to him, playfully smacked him as he smiled. Silence filled the room as everyone's eyes was still on me and my boys.
"They engraved on me," I said in a low tone.
"Engraved?" Daryl asked as he looked at my father, everyone looking at Daryl now, "He engraved on his mission?"
"I'm letting it slide," Father said, putting his cup to his lips again, it didn't mean anything to him.
"It's against the code, Jake," Daryl said, putting his palms on the table in front of him
"You think I don't know that?" Father snapped back, looking Daryl in his eyes. Daryl looked at him for a few more minutes before he turned away like he was too ashamed to continue to the stare-off.
"How was the Biting?" Troy asked "I bet it got heated," The boy next to him whispered at him, causing Troy's smile to fade away.
Austin's stare met Troy's as Troy looked scared like he knew he did something wrong. I looked at Austin, seeing his eyes alight purple, a warning to Troy. I placed my hand on Austin's shoulder, seeing him quickly turn his head to me, his eyes turning to a light blue. I just gave a small smile, patting him on the shoulder a few times. I looked back at Troy, seeing him looking at Daryl, Daryl's face filled with confusion and a bit of anger. Troy looked away and then down at his lap.
"So, when shall it begin?" Daryl asked, his face going back to normal as he looked straight at Father.
"I don't think it's an appropriate time to bring this up," Father said, leaning back into his chair
"And why not?" Daryl asked
"Because my children are around," he said, still looking at Daryl
"That's why I brought it up," Daryl said, "Don't they want to watch?"
My eyes went to Father's, seeing him look around the room before he spoke up, "You will children excuse us, please?"
Everyone child from the Sheikah pack looked at Daryl, seeing him a little bit upset. He looked around at them and nodded. Soon, the Sheikah pack stood up and walked towards the door, the boys and I following them. We made it up the stairs as everyone walked outside in the garden.
"Can't we stay inside?" I asked Austin, stopping before we exited the house
"Trust me, you don't wanna stay inside with Daryl and Father," Austin said as he exited first, me second, Alex third and Robert forth.
