For the day, I did all my work without stopping and by the time we got to lunch, I sat in my regular spot and picked at my food.
"Judging by you doing your work, picking at your food and being quiet as hell, I'd say something was up." Jade says.
I look up and she's on her own.
"Where's Yuuki?" I ask.
"She's got a test. So, what's up?" She says. She sits down next to me and I sigh. I explain to her about what's going on.
"And you think the next victim is someone here?" Jade asks.
"Maybe. I don't know. I'm just worried." I say, shrugging.
"You care for people. It's who you are." She says.
"It's more than caring. It's something I can't explain." I say, standing up.My phone rings and I answer.
"Hello?" I ask.
"You're next, sweetheart. Prepare your death." The phone hangs up.My heart stops and I remove the phone from my ear.
"Everything okay?" Jade asks.
I don't answer. How can I?
"Bro?" Jade says.
"I gotta go." I say and quickly leave the school.I run through the gates and run as fast as I can. I go to the sea and I look at the view. Thinking about the phone call, I start crying. I sit on the floor and hug my legs to my chest.
"Blake?" I hear.
I recognize it as Killian's voice and I turn to look at him.
"Come to say goodbye?" I ask, sarcastically.
"What do you mean, love?" He asks.I shake my head.
"Just forget it. I won't be alive by tomorrow so don't worry about it." I mumble.
"What are you talking about, Blake?" Killian asks.
"I got a phone call. I'm the next victim." I say, sighing.
"And you didn't tell anyone?" He says, sounding a little angry.I stood up.
"No. I didn't. I didn't tell anyone because people would only pretend to care." I say, a little irritated.
Killian has a look of regret and I shake my head.
"Let's find this killer." I say, walking away.
I feel my wrist being grabbed and I'm held in my place
"You're not going anywhere alone, love." Killian says.
"And why not?" I ask.
"Because despite what you may think, people do care for you." He says.Maybe there was hope somewhere.
"So you want to help me?" I ask.
"It's my job as an officer to protect someone who has been threatened by death." He answers.
"But I also care for you, Blake." He adds.We both wore the same the expression on our faces; Hope. He probably had hope about catching the killer but I had hope about what could happen for the future. He took me to the car and my phone starts ringing. It's the same number from earlier. I answer.
"Hello?" I say.
"You know where to go. See you there, sweetheart." They say then hang up.Killian takes my phone and he starts driving.
"Where are you going?" I ask him.
"We're getting the number tracked. I'm not having anyone else dying on me." He says, anger clear in his voice.I was probably going to regret my next move but my instincts took over. I put my hand on his arm and he looked at me confused.
"They won't get away with this, Rogers. Not while we're alive." I say, trying my best to calm him down.
I knew that driving when angry could lead to an accident and that's the last thing this town needs right now. He takes a deep breath and I remove my arm, smiling on the inside.
"We'll get them. Don't worry." I reassure him.
"You're right." He says, driving to the station. We get to the station and Killian takes no time to get the number locked and traced. I kept myself occupied by writing in my notebook. I started doodling some random patterns and hummed quietly to a song in my head. After a couple of minutes, I put my head on the table and close my eyes. I didn't sleep much so I felt really tired. I felt myself drift off slightly and I dozed off.
Clouds. This was familiar.... I only ever had this dream once before. I look around and I see my grandparents.
"Nana! Grampa!" I shout.
"Jasmine.." My grampa says.
"It's Blake, Gramps. Why am I here?" I ask.I only ever ended up here once before and that was for advice.
"It's Killian. You and him need to break the curse." He says.
"He's right, Blake. Trust Killian. He can help you get back to the right path." My nan says.My mind starts waking up and my grandparents fade out.
"Trust.... Him." They say.
I wake up and I'm being held. I keep my eyes closed and hear a sigh.
"I need to wake you up from this curse. It's driving me crazy." I hear Killian sigh.
My heart starts beating fast and my breathing picks up. Killian picks up in this.
"Blake?" I hear him ask.
I open my eyes and he lies my down on a soft surface.
"Rogers? What's going on?" I ask, panicking.
He grabs my hand and I look in his eyes.
"I need to you to breathe, okay? Deep breaths Blake." He says.
I take a few deep breaths and my heart slows down, making me relax. My mind screamed at me, telling me to pull myself together but my heart screamed out. What my grandparents said to me...I need to know if it's true.
"Killian." I say, removing my hand from his.
"Are we trapped in a curse?" I ask.
"Why do you ask that, Blake?" He asks.
"Because in my dream, before I woke up, my grandparents told me this was a curse." I answer. He sighs and nods.
"Aye love, it's a curse alright." He says, sounding defeated.
"Why? Who's done this?" I ask.
"I don't know. But I remember everything before the curse." He says.
"You do?" I ask, sounding hopeful. He nods. I only had one other question.
"Killian. Before this curse, was there anything between us?" I ask.
He looks at me but I couldn't read his emotion. This could either go really good or really bad.
