Dianne's POV

I gulped, my heart is beating hard in my chest! I'm nervous on what Father will say then heard him say angrily Don't be ridiculous, Mr. Nightingale! I won't let this problem of mine ruin my daughter's future!

I heard the sound of a chair being moved, Sir Nightingale said confidently It's your choice, I'll be back again to get my gold coins. I immediately entered the shop, pretending not hear everything. Father looks surprised Dianne, what are you doing back here?

I-I..uh..I forgot my rapier, I just came back to get it.

I had no appetite during dinner for I had an uneven feeling since I heard their conversation, even Father is unusually quiet as I am.

Sis said gloomily The atmosphere seems dead here.

I forced myself a bite or two before putting my plate in the sink.

I lay on my bed, thinking I did say that I'll do anything but an arranged marriage is too much. I heard a knock on my door, I sat and called out Yes?

Sis Rain opened and said Miss Sylvana is waiting for you outside.

I jumped to my feet I'll be there.

As I went out, Miss Sylvana greeted me then said It's your scout on the northern wall tonight, Dianne.

I nodded I'll be there, thanks, Miss Sylvana. I immediately prepared myself and fastened my belt with my rapier. After bidding goodbye to Father and Sis Rain, I left for the northern wall.

After a few minutes...

I stood on the top of the wall, watching the forest and the Clan. I have this heavy feeling in my heart - it feels like this problem is becoming too much of a burden for us to handle.

I sat and huddled, crying bitterly Why?.. I sniffled Why is this happening to us? My sadness and pain came flowing out and I cried even harder.

Dianne, what happened to you?

I look on my right and saw Janus standing there, his face has a look of concern.

Janus' POV

I was circling the wall when I came across Dianne, crying Dianne, what happened to you? I asked in concern then she looked at me.
