Author Note
Whoooooa. Ok. So. I suppose updating on July 4th would have been cool but life and insomnia haven't been making me flexible. Excuses. Excuses. I know. I'm sorry. But I finally found a plot that I like. 😄 So, here ya go! Thanks for all of the support! XOXO

The Next Day - Thursday

Harry's POV

I woke up early to do some research on my egg.

I had managed to open it in the bath over the chamber of secrets, but got sexually harassed by a ghost on my way in and out.

I paled at the memory of feeling Myrtle's eyes on my skin.

Currently, I sat on the floor surrounded by a pile of books. The egg had said:

‘Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you’re searching, ponder this:
We’ve taken what you’ll sorely miss,
An hour long you’ll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour – the prospect’s black
Too late, it’s gone, it won’t come back.’

Which means I'll be trying to get something underwater.

I'll only have an hour to get what was stolen back.

The question is, how can I stay under water for a long period of time?

Is there a spell, a potion, or some kind of plant...?

I sighed as I closed my book.

Why are you feeling so defeated, so early in the morning?

How can I stay underwater for an hour or more without drowning?

What are you trying to be? A mermaid?

I sighed.

If you intend on only mocking me, please leave me alone.

That was not my intention. It was merely a suggestion.

What do you mean?

People try to become creatures so that they can understand them.

Okay?

You're trying to be a mermaid.

Well. Yes.

How can you become a mermaid, Harry?

Is there a potion?

How do people do research on merpeople?

My eyes widened as my eyes landed on a book.

Studies of Underwater Beasts by Ariel Disnáe

I skimmed through the first few pages.

'Doing research underwater is significantly harder with big bulky muggle equipment. It makes you easy to detect and easy to attack.' I continued to read. 'In my research, I learned that eating gillyweed in freshwater environments or water that is not murky is the easiest way to do research. Some models are even told to eat some when doing underwater shoots. Considering that it is easy to get.'

Draco?

Yes?

How can I get some gillyweed?
