Soren, Sakura, and Sotaru headed towards Oaken Shield, with Soren clinging on to a tiny spark of hope that they might have some way to save Dark Blood. They approached the gate to see two guards.
They saw the trio approaching and yelled. "Stop! What business do you have here?"
Soren started to speak. "We're from Dark Blood, well me, not these two."
"So, those two are freeloaders?"
"How can we trust them?" The shorter guard asked suspiciously.
"These two along with me are from Crystal Tech. Personally, I never met her until the attack and this short guy here, was my arena partner for a short while."
The guards looked at one other and checked their reports. "This is gonna be more paperwork. I hate it."
"Hey, at least we aren't assigned to a higher up's squad. I heard they get ten times more paperwork."
The two guards began to fill out paperwork, and after a couple of minutes, the group had an officially licensed guest pass.
"This pass will only be valid for one day. If you want it extended. . . go bother someone else, I don't want to do more work."
Shrugging, Sakura went past the guards and gestured for Soren and Sotaru to follow. Soren walked ahead, as Sotaru reluctantly followed behind.
The main entrance hall was inside a tree. In front of the group, was an enormous oak tree, with a gate carved into the front of it.
"Guess this is where the name 'Oaken Shield comes from," Soren remarks.
The entrance hall was a lot smaller than Dark Blood's, but it had a warmer tone to it. The walls were filled with famous treasures and the portraits of former famous guild members.
"Are we actually going to meet anyone who can actually help~?" Sotaru asks, clearly bored out of his mind.
"I don't know anyone here, nor do I know where to go to ask for help. Do you think we should start asking people around here?" Soren replies.
"We shouldn't do that. We might annoy the wrong people and we might not get any help at all." Sakura turned around and put her hands behind her back and smiled.
"Besides, don't you think we should explore here first?"
The trio head towards the center to where the leaders were. There was another gate and two more guards. "Um. Excuse me?" Soren asked.
"State your business young man." One of the guards said.
"I have a request to seek the audience with the leaders of the Guild."
The guards tilted their head. They're probably wondering what a kid like him was thinking, wishing to see the leaders of Oaken Shield.
"Do you have a valid reason why?"
"I am from Dark Blood and I need to ask for your help."
One of the guards said. "Wait, what? There were more survivors? And ones that are actually sane?" Disbelief spread across their faces.
"Yes?" Soren wasn't sure whether or not he was safe at this point.
"Are those two also from Dark Blood?"
"No, sir." He shook his head. "Though we go to the same school. Crystal Tech."
"I see." The man said thoughtfully. "The leader will want to see a sane survivor of Dark Blood."
"What do you mean 'sane survivor'?"
"Well, you see. The survivors we recovered from the attack are all broken. They will not speak a single word like their mouths are sewn shut. And their eyes seemed to be glazed over and fuzzy. But you're the only person from Dark Blood that does seem to have some common sense."
