~Soren~

Soren was right. He enters his house, with his parents sitting calmly at the dinner table, expecting something.

His mom sat up straighter. "Well? How many points did you accumulate today?" His dad stared at him, fiddling slightly with his cup.

Soren stammered, "Uh. . . I got 486 points. . ." Soren winced, expecting a verbal lashing from his mom about "Why didn't you get even more than yesterday?" or, "You should of at least got 1000 points!"

His mom sneered slightly in disgust. "Ugh. How can we expect you to reach our expectations, and reach an Ultimate level at this rate? You earned even less than your score from yesterday! And that was only 785!"

Soren was about to apologize, when his mom spoke again, "From now on, you are grounded until you earn at least 2000 points during the weekend. I expect you to work harder, and you must achieve the best and no less."

Soren groaned slightly. Ughhhhh. Grounded. My mom is annoying for sure, but this?? 2000 points by the end of the weekend?? Has she gone insane or something?? Soren walks past the kitchen and heads upstairs to his room. He enters the room and closes the door behind him.

Soren's room, devoid of decorative furniture, except for a drawer, and a bookshelf. He turns around and faces his neatly made bed, and falls straight onto it. He contemplates his new "sentence" and wonders how to gain 2000 points. Normally, quests give at least 300-500 points, depending on the difficulty. But, since he was grounded, he couldn't leave to go to the more difficult ones and was stuck farming the 300 and fewer quests here. His weekend tutor could only help him increase his outputs by at most, 50%. Even if he spent most of his time farming the 300 quests, and taking lessons, that still won't be enough for him to go and get 2000 points by the end of the week.

Soren spent the rest of his boring weekend, grinding. Repeating the quests over and over, until he was exhausted, mentally and physically. He managed to get 1572 points over the weekend, and his parents begrudgingly let him go out to the guild hall and lifted his ban.

The guild Soren was part of, was the Dark Blood guild. This was one of the top four guilds in the entire world. It was arguably, one of the most powerful guilds in general, excluding the Ultimate Guild, Kristallherz. Soren had managed to get a Trooper spot in the guild, due to his ability to switch quickly from magic and physical attacks. The guild's base loomed above the mostly quiet city of Farsen. The walls of the fort heavily protected the inside base and were tinged red from previous violent battles. Soren walked up to the gates, which were intimidating for anyone new here. The gates were polished steel, enhanced with glowing runes and have a large lion emblazoned on the lock. The gate slid open without a creak, letting Soren enter. Soren walked in, as the gates closed once again.

The main hall was large enough to fit an entire army. Which, was technically it's intended purpose. Soren immediately walked to the right, where he knew the training barracks where. He wanted to train so that he could get more points next time at school. There, he trained with phantom monsters, so they weren't real, but he was mostly enhancing his skills, and trying new tactics. After a couple of hours of self-training, glowing green numbers appeared in front of him.

Soren: 1230 points.

"I guess that's good enough."

He started to walk his way out when he hears two people talking to each other. Since the door was slightly opened a crack, he decided to peek through the door.

"So, you're here so you can be recruited to Dark Blood?" The elderly man asked.

"Yes." The girl said, whose name appears to be Sakura. "I have skills that can help defend this Guild. I am an Attacker, and I'm an Experienced Level 4 Gunner and Experienced Level 3 Caster. I would train more if I could, but I couldn't ever since my family has been killed by monsters, so I've been on the run ever since. None of the minor Guilds actually wanted to accept me."

"And what makes you think we'll accept you?"

The girl smiled, any normal person would think it's a normal sweet smile, but what Soren saw was creepy. The smile unnerved Soren, but he continued to listen in. "I wanted to have a home. I wanted a place to live in. Where I belong. I want to experience what's it like to live without having to fear monsters coming out to get you."

"I see. . . ." The elderly man said. "Well, I will see what to do about it. You can sleep in one of the guest rooms. We'll have to go over this Sakura-"

A huge explosion sounded outside and the base shook. The man was starting to go to the door to open it, and Soren immediately disappeared. "What is going on?" The younger man said.

"An attack! But who? We made alliances with the older Top Guilds." The elderly man said.

"Then who is attacking this guild?" Sakura asked.

"Don't worry. Stay here. We'll handle this. Call all of the troops to fight the intruders!" The man commanded.

"Yes, sir!"

The two men rushed off to summon their defenses.

It took Soren a while to realize he was also part of the army. "Oh crap! The army!" He accidentally muttered out loud.

"Huh?" Sakura turned to the sound of where it was coming from. "Who said that?"

Soren held his breath and zoomed out of there as fast as he could. He ran outside and saw a huge catastrophe in Farsen. In just minutes, the once beautiful city has fallen into ruins.
