This Just Took an Interesting Turn

He heard the loud explosion. He had to get to them. But all he saw, when he arrived was dead bodies on the floor. His friends, relatives, even enemies. They were all dead. This can't be happening. It had started. Humanity had reached its end. There was nothing he could do. Instead, fleeing like a coward, he had reached safety. The death memories never leaving his mind. It was all because he was too late to save them.

"They will pay!!" He screamed as loud as he could, venting his frustration out in the open air.

Then the scenery changed around him. This time, he was standing in the fields surrounded by flowers. The sky was dark, filled with stars.

A girl with brown curly hair stood in front of him. Her bangs somewhat covered her eyes but tears could be seen dripping down from her face. "If it weren't for you, I would still be alive. You just wanted to save yourself. You don't care about me, do you? Why did you leave me?"

He opened his mouth to speak, but no words formed. That's not true. I tried to help. But the words were stuck in his throat.

"It would've been better if you were never here in the first place!!" She yelled as her form took on a monstrous look and her jaws unhinged as if to eat him.

Soren woke up with a gasp. What the hell was that? He hadn't expected a dream like this. Recently he started to have dreams more and more about everyone dying around him. But it didn't feel like they were the same people. His parents had a different face, his friends were not in the dream, yet he thought the unknown people as friends. And strangely, the world he saw was completely different from Viruen. He figured it was just stress of watching his parents die. Although it hadn't been long, why did it feel like their death was a long time ago? Like he was revisiting something from a movie? Moreover, why did he kept seeing the same girl over and over again?

He felt like he's seen the girl somewhere, but couldn't quite place it. Soren looked at the others who still seemed to be sound asleep. He stretched out his arms before getting up. Everybody looked so peaceful when they were sleeping. He wanted to get some fresh air, but of course, everybody had to be in the way. This was going to be a one hard obstacle course.

After getting through them almost waking Aua in the process, he finally took a sigh of relief and set his foot down only to hear someone screech. "OW!!!"

Soren cringed at the awfully high pitch scream and looked down to see he had accidentally stepped on Sotaru's arm. "Oh crap, sorry." He quickly removed his foot as Sotaru woke up.

"Where are you going so early?" Sotaru asked.

"Just needed to get some fresh air."

"Haa??? We're outside already though. . . ."

"It was starting to get cramped in our 'hiding spot'."

Sotaru just looked at him like he was crazy.

"Whatever, you can go back to sleep."

"Nah~ I'm already awake. No point in going back to sleep again~"

"Okay then."

Despite Reland being an Amateur Leveling, he was able to keep the shield up the entire night. It was to alert Reland in case any of the monsters try to break in.

Soren walked out of the safe spot and leaned against a lamp post. He closed his eyes, trying to recollect his thoughts from the nightmare. Although it was just a dream, he wondered who could he had angered so much that they wished he never existed.
