Soren had enough. "I'm going after Aua."
"Why?" Sakura asked. "Even after all that distrust and horrid things she said to you?"
"Still. She's going through recent loss. I'm going to go after her. Maybe she'll come back to her senses."
"I wanna help too," Sotaru said. And what surprised Soren was that, for once, he didn't seem to joke around. This time he looked serious.
Soren nodded. They searched through the trees looking for Aua. Sotaru and Soren agreed to split up. After all they've been through. Everything led to this. Soren heard sniffling nearby. Soren went towards the sound and saw Aua.
"Aua?" Soren said.
She turned her head to him. Her eyes seemed to be a bit red. Was she crying?
"Go away." She mumbled.
"Aua, look-"
"Are you deaf? I said to go away!"
Soren took a deep breath and said. "Aua, it's not what it seems."
"How do you know?"
"Sotaru could've had his reasons before acting . . . this way. . . ."
"Yet, you - we - don't know anything about him."
Soren froze. That was true . . . Soren nearly forgot the reason why Sotaru was here in the first place. He nearly forgot why he was here in the first place. All because of the mysterious attackers. His parents had given their lives up for him and so far . . . all he did was cause nothing but trouble.
"Aua, you're just going to have to learn to ignore him."
Aua was quiet for a moment. "Could it be . . . that you can relate to him?"
Soren jumped at her suddenly speaking. "What?"
"No matter how much trouble Sotaru caused us, no matter how many time he annoyed you, you always seem to . . . care? . . . about him. You always seem to be by his side. No matter what he does. You said it before, 'Everybody has a reason behind their actions.' Sakura even mentioned your parents died recently, because of those people."
Soren sighed. "So? I'm not the only person who had to go through that."
"Do you ever think for yourself?"
". . . I don't know?"
"God, you're such an idiot."
"Huh?"
"Do you ever think about yourself? Don't you ever get selfish over things?"
Soren had no answer. He always lived under his parent's rule. No time for friends, or having fun. It was always, studying or training. That was how Soren started to be #1 in his class. Never did he remember being remotely selfish.
"I'm going to return to our group. Come back when you're feeling better."
Soren started to walk off until the air felt strange around him. He immediately got on his guard and he got his weapon ready. In a blink of an eye, he saw a figure standing in front of him. She wore a cloak and her hood seemed to cover half of her face. Her long raven hair flowed from her hood. She had a creepy smile which sent chills to Soren.
"No need to attack me. I am simply here to show your past mistakes."
"Mistakes?"
"Of course. If it weren't for you, your parents wouldn't have to die. Because of you, the group had fallen apart. No one trusts each other anymore. All. Because. Of. You."
