The After Effect

Chapter 18

A/N

So this story might follow some of the MCU movies, but it won't be exactly like them. There will be references and parts of the movies might show up in this story so if you haven't watched them, I strongly recommend it.

"So you really did all that while you were a mere mortal?" Loki asked.

I just nodded my head, not sure if I should be offended by his statement or not.

"Wow."

Thor let out a low growl. "Your gods really tried to kill you over your power?"

"Well," I responded slowly, "It was more so Zeus than the others, they were just doing as I asked. I was in a bad spot and I was being stupid."

"They should be proud! They should have rewarded you for your strength!" Thor seemed highly upset at the thought.

Odin took that moment to speak up. "We need to discuss what happened when Perseus arrived. The Frost giants now have a very dangerous weapon, one we need to get back."

Everyone sobered up immediately. 

"I am to believe that they will attack Earth first. Earth is the weakest of the Nine Realms, not even knowing of the threat.  They only just learned of a world other than there own."

"Wait," I spoke up. "What do you mean they learned of another world? Earth doesn't know it isn't alone."

It was Thor who spoke first. "A small group of mortals know. My father banished me for a couple days months ago. I made a stir in one of the government organizations. I believe they are called SHIELD. From what I understood from my short time there, they work with mortals with powers."

I remained silent, not sure what to do with the information. "Why didn't the gods tell us? Do they even know? How did a god of another Parthenon make it to Earth without anyone realizing?"

"Because the Norns did not wish it to be. It wasn't time for us to cross paths just yet." Loki answered. 

"Son," Odin said towards Loki, "How do you know this?"

"My magic lets me see a great deal father." Loki said. "I just have to know what I'm looking for."

"What of my Fates?" I asked. "Shouldn't they play a part in it if me, being a greek, is involved too?"

"I don't know for sure," Loki said. "But the best thought is that they may be working together."

My eyes widen in horror at the thought. As if the Fates didn't hate me enough, now I have to worry about some viking fate trying to kill me too.

"Father," Thor started. "How can we protect Earth? I will let no harm fall upon it. It is under my protection."

I spoke out of concern. "Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood have been protecting the Earth from immortal beings since the beginning of time. We just got out of two major wars, our numbers are low and we are still recovering. I will do what I can but I will not let my family get involved."

"Very well." The Allfather said. "Thor, you will be allowed to assist in the protection of Earth since it was our duty to guard the tesseract and we failed. Loki, if you wish, you may fight along side your brother. You may be a part of this family but I will not make you fight your birth blood if you do not wish."

Loki turned to me with a severe look in his emerald eyes. "I will protect Earth with my life. It is my duty as the prince of Asgard to protect the safety of the Nine Realms."
