I just stood there stunned. It wasn't everyday the ruler of the Universe asks you to become a god. I must have stood there longer than I thought because Chaos spoke up again.
"It wouldn't just be all fun and games. You wouldn't be allowed to just do whatever either. You would have to follow my rules. There won't be many. Basically just help people and don't be evil." Chaos clarified.
I thought for a second and took a deep breath. "Would I be a complete immortal?"
"Yes."
"Would I have to work for the Olympians?" I asked.
"No," Chaos replied. "The only being you would have to listen to is me. You would be as strong as the most power full beings on Earth, without the Ancient Laws. I have faith that you won't betray me or any others. You can't. You are loyal without fault."
I was scared to ask my next question, "would this fix my broken soul?"
"Yes," there was a pause, "but it would also get rid of all the powers that you were not born with."
I thought about that. I would lose all my powers from Hestia. I didn't use them very much so it wouldn't be a fighting disability but I would lose a connect to a very dear friend. Taking that into consideration, I finally came up with an answer.
"Yes."
Without so much as a word, Chaos grabbed my head.
I dropped down to my knees. I wasn't in pain, it actually didn't hurt at all, but I was so overwhelmed by power that i felt like I was going to pass out. It was like a million and one drugs all at once.
When he was done I placed my hands on the ground in front of me to keep me stable. I could feel the power rolling off me. For the first time in years nothing hurt. Not my throat, not my soul, not my heart. It was so peaceful and almost like a high feeling.
I let out a small laugh as I stood up, feeling light as air.
"Congratulations Perseus." Chaos spoke. "You are now the most powerful god in existence, of any myth."
My eyes narrowed at 'any myth'.
"What are my domains if I may ask?" I said ignoring his strange statement.
"You don't have any." Chaos bluntly stated.
"How is that possible? I thought all gods have to have domains." I asked, very confused.
Chaos just sighed. "Gods have to have whatever I want them to have to have. But if it means that much to you, you can be the god of beings."
I was now even more confused. "God of beings?"
"Yes, beings." He said. "As in any being. Living, dead, human, nonhuman. You can't control them all, but they will be what you draw power from. That is what will make you one of the most powerful beings of the universe, not as powerful as me, but much powerful than almost anything else. You will be able to do many things with your powers, all of which you will have to figure out yourself."
I just nodded. "I swear my loyalty to you, Lord Chaos of the Universe, I will help you when needed, and I will help all those that I can."
A large, creepy grin passed over his face. "Well at least with that, I know you won't betray me for sure now. I would be more careful with swearing your loyalty like that Perseus. Your fatal flaw is even worse this time around. If you swear your loyalty like that and break it, you will die, and it won't be the easy way."
My eyes widened in horror. That is a very big weakness.
"You are to leave now." With a flick of his hand, I was sent back to the Tavern.
When I looked around, the place was empty, it must have been after hours. I began to walk towards the wall of portals when I noticed a flash of silver in the corner.
"You can come out now Zen." I said. "You aren't good at hiding."
Zen walked out. "I wasn't sure if he would send you straight home or make you go through the portal."
"You put up a really good act, you know. You really did know that humans were very much still alive didn't you?" I asked.
Zen replied quickly, "I did. You seemed like a nice person but I had to report you to Chaos. You shouldn't be here."
I smirked. "Did you know I was a demigod."
"I also knew that. But be very careful saying that word. Only few, very few, know that they ever existed, let alone still do."
"How does a guy like you end up working directly with the Lord of the Universe?" I asked, because in all honesty, Zen didn't seem that important.
"I really shouldn't tell you," Zen replied, "But considering you are still alive, Chaos must trust you not to run off and tell everyone things they shouldn't know about the Universe. My mother was homeless, my father was in Chaos' Army. When my mom died giving birth to me, my father knew he couldn't leave me. So my father asked Chaos for a few years off to raise me. My father died in battle after i turned 18. So Chaos gave me a job to live off."
That was sad and detailed. "It was nice meeting you Zen. I don't have anything against you. You might have tricked me but you helped me make a very important deal."
"A deal? With Chaos? You must be very special. What did you do?" He asked me.
I just held out my hand for him to shake. I knew as soon as he touched me he would be able to feel exactly what Chaos did to me.
He took my hand and the next thing I knew, he was kneeling in front of me.
"My Lord," He said.
"Get up," I said in a voice of disbelief. "Why are you kneeling?"
"You're a Primordial, you are only just below Chaos himself." He whispered. "I have no place even talking to you."
My eyes widened. "He gave me power, yes, but I am just a god. Even so, you do not bow to me."
"You may think you are a god, but you have more power than the average Primordial, I am sensitive to powers and you have far more than you seem to think."
I just look at him for a moment. "You've given me much curiosity now. I will try to discover just how much power you seem to think I have. This is a new chapter for me, a new start. I will see you around Zen. If you ever need me, just pray to me. I will find you."
With that, I went to a random portal, hoping to find something to do with my new found godhood.
