Chapter 6

I slept really well that night considering what happened. I woke up bright and early and decided to go on a walk to clear my mind. It was always peaceful near their house, I guess that's why they chose it, to get away from everyone. I sat on a park bench and came to the conclusion that what Noel and I did was so wrong. I mean he's MARRIED and MY BEST FRIEND'S DAD! I told myself to move on even though I knew how much I wanted him.

I walked back to the house, hoping Anaïs was the only one home but when I got there I heard two voices. Great.

"Ads, is that you?" A worried voice said as I was walking into the kitchen. There sat Anaïs and Noel at the table.

"Yeah, only me."

"Where've you been, I woke up and you weren't there?"

"Oh. Sorry Naï, I just needed some fresh air. It's a beautiful day out maybe we could go out for lunch later?" I asked trying to get out of the awkward situation.

"Sure. I know this little café in the city centre. My mate keeps going on about it."

"That sounds great. We should probably get ready then. You coming?" I replied quickly almost running upstairs.

"Yeah, I'll be up in a bit. I'll just finish my cuppa with dad and I'll be up!" She shouted as I was half way upstairs already.

I went to look in Anaïs' wardrobe and found this cute jacket and round, red shades. That was my look done. I threw my hair up in a ponytail and sat on the bed, waiting for Naï.

Soon enough, she'd joined me and she was finishing getting ready.

"Addyyyy?" She asked batting her eyelids like a child

"What?"

"Would you go get my black boots from downstairs? Pleaseee. Because you love me so much!"

"Ugh...Fine!"

"Thank you! Lunch is on me!"

"Yeah it'd better be you lazy cow." I said under my breath as I rushed downstairs.

"Oi, I heard that!" She shouted while giggling to herself.

I practically ran to the kitchen where her shoes always were and I could feel a pair of eyes glued to me. I turned and there he was again, his blue eyes giving me a constant reminder of what happened the night before. I was almost certain he could see my red face from embarrassment. The way he was stood with his arms folded and his body leaning against the door almost made me forget about us nearly having sex and me running out on him after telling him I still had my v card. Oh god. REMEMBER ADELAIDE! NOTHING HAPPENED, NOTHING CAN EVER HAPPEN! My conscience overpowering my obsessive crush. I grabbed Naï's shoes and turned to the door...

"We need to talk Addy." He kept it short and to the point but I had to play dumb.

"About what?" I said faking my confusion.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about." He kept a calm voice but I could sense the anger behind it.

"Look, I'm busy right now. We're getting ready for lunch and I don't have time."

"That's bullshit and you know it! We have to talk this out Adelaide!"

His anger was getting more visible but I had to think about his family, especially Anaïs. It would break her heart and there's no point dragging it up when he clearly doesn't care for me. He wouldn't have let me go and made me look like a fool when I told him. I just needed to avoid the confrontation and everything would go back to how it was.

"Maybe later, ok? I really need to go." I didn't even give him chance to object. I just needed to get out of there.

"Here you go Naï." Soon we'd be out of this house and I'd finally be able to stop worrying.

"Thanks Ads! Ok then let's get going."

We headed for the stairs and made our way to the door when yet again, he was there staring at me with a hint of anger. Obviously not liking the fact that he didn't get his way.

"What's up dad?" His eyes finally broke contact with mine as he put on a smug smirk. What's he playing at?

"Well it looks like I've got lunch free so I thought I'd come along with you!" He said cheerfully.

"Great dad! You do know this means you're paying tho, right?" Anaïs asked cheekily.

"I expected nothing less!" He said holding the door open for us.

"Well this is going to be great." I thought to myself before getting into the taxi.
