"Let's do this!" I said to Oak as I put him in my bag.
Oak was going to meet these people. I knew they wouldn't accept him at first. A lot of people would be jealous that I managed to get someone like him. They would be jealous of his perfect body and heavenly smells.
But they'd all love him just like I did.
Ross was tired today and hopped slowly. I wanted him to go faster. I wanted to get to school asap. Then I would show Oak to everyone.
Ross was going way too slow and I tried to make him go into at least a jog. He wouldn't listen though.
I thanked Ross when we arrived so late it was already school time. Luckily today was an assembly day so I snuck into the hall.
My principal looked me straight in the eye and smiled.
"Madelyn! So glad to see you!" She smiled
I gulped. This wasn't going to be good. I didn't even know she knew my name.
"I've been hearing some rumours you have brought your boyfriend here today? Please! Introduce him to us!"
My panic immediately disappeared.
"Gladly!" I smiled back
I pushed through the sea of people and jumped onto the stage. I pulled Oak from my bag.
"Here is my boyfriend. Oak."
I did not get the reaction I expected.
The school burst into a laughing fit. Even the principal couldn't hide her snorts.
"Stop laughing!" I pleaded
But they continued. I felt tears forming in my eyes.
"You have to be joking, Madelyn." the principal laughed
"Stop!" I choked "Please listen to what I have to say!"
They calmed down a little. There was a few giggles, but it was mostly quiet.
"I am so done with people treating objectum sexuality like a joke! Love is love! So what he isn't a human being? Can't you guys accept him?"
But they all burst into laughter again. Tears rolled down my cheeks as their laughs became louder. I looked at the principal and she was quietly snickering.
I ran off the stage keeping in sobs.
This was society now, huh?
I sat on some random bench, crying my eyeballs out. Why couldn't they just accept Oak? Accept me?
No one, not even Oak could stop the tears from falling down.
