When Oak and I came to school the next day, we did not get the attention we expected. People threw angry comments at us and shook their fists at us. I didn't understand and I went to my group who also seemed angry.
"Good going, Maddie," someone snapped at me
"What are you talking about?" I asked in genuine confusion
"Oh come on, you know what you and your lover did."
No. I didn't.
Thankfully, Chris pulled me to the side and whispered in my ear.
"Oak made the team lose." he told me
"It wasn't his fault!" I shouted
"I know, I know. People are just a little angry..."
The nerve of some people. I looked at Chris.
"Remember when you said you'd punch the next person who mocks me?"
