I never kept secrets from Oak. Never. We shared everything with each other, and trusted each other. But this time, I couldn't tell him. When he asked me where I was going, I told him I was seeing a friend.
"I'll see you later baby, I have to go!" I said and placed a quick peck on his cheek
I ran out the door and went to the back yard to get Ross. I decided to ride him bareback, a risky but necessary move. We hopped to the local Bunnings right next to the shops.
All I could think of was Oak. My heart raced and not because I was nervous about the date. I was nervous that Oak would find out. I couldn't keep a secret from him for more than a day.
This was too risky.
Hey Chris, I'm actually feeling really sick at the moment so can't come. Sorry🙁
I tapped send. A small white lie wouldn't hurt.
I looked up to see a male right in my face.
Chris.
"You don't look sick to me..." he mumbled sadly
I tried to speak, but nothing came out.
"I get it, you don't want to give me a chance... You should've just told me so..."
He started to walk away and I didn't stop him. I think this is what he needed. Now he knew to back off from me.
