Maki's POV

It's night again.

"I need to check out a place! You can go first!" Kaito told me.

He's out right now.

It's pretty quiet without him.

I wonder what he's doing...

N-not that I care!

The door slams open.

"Makiroll! Look what I got!" Kaito holds some box up.

"Shut up. It's 9pm." I tell him.

"Whoops. But look! I got us a star and planet projector!" Kaito shows me in amazement.

"What do we need that for...?"

Kaito takes an object out of the box. It has a globe-like shape. He plugs it into a power socket and turns off the lights.

"I haven't seen the stars in awhile... so that's why I got it!" Kaito gets on the bed.

I stay silent.

What am I supposed to say...?

"You know, I've always wanted to see the stars with you. We can't really go outside, so this is the best we've got!" Kaito smiles at me.

I feel myself start to burn.

"You're so... sappy... you know that?" I tell him.

"Well, at least being sappy gets my point out!" He smiles even more.

Dammit...

why is he always so...

Kaito scooches closer to me.

"Look! It's Virgo!" He points up.

Why does he care about... clumps of stars so much?

"What do you mean, Virgo?" I ask.

"Virgo is a constellation! Do you know what that is?" He excitedly says.

"Of course. I'm not stupid..." I snap at him.

"Maki... do you not like the stars...?" Kaito gives me a sad look.

"It's not that I don't like them. I just don't pay attention to them..." I try not to hurt him more than I do.

Why can't I just be nice...?

Why is it always him I'm cold to...?

"They're nice to look at though." I add on.

"The real ones are even prettier!" Kaito exclaims, "We'll go real stargazing one day, just the two of us!"

"Sure... if we're allowed to leave this place alone." I tell him.

Didn't he read the paper?

"DON'T GO OUTSIDE WITHOUT THE SUPERVISION OF AIHYA KAWO"

"Well, it'll feel like just us, cuz she's only supervising, not sitting right next to us. She'll just watch for danger!"

"If you say so. I'll go to sleep now." I turn away, "Night, Kaito."

"I'll stay up for a little longer." is the last thing I hear before I fall asleep.

Shuichi's still sleeping.

It's 7am, why wouldn't he be?

I don't feel tired anymore, so I decide to get up.

I see Maki at a table, just sitting there.
