40. 'Beginning of the End'

Dev and Sonakshi sat around in each other's arms after their midnight snack. Dev told her everything that had happened since his engagement with Samaira- how they found out the truth about Dev and how Samaira helped Dev find 'himself' with the help of dadi, Iqbal, Prithvi and Dr Chopra. Sonakshi felt ashamed that all this time, Samaira knew all about her and Dev; no wonder she had seemed a little miffed with Sonakshi. How she wished, she had told Samaira the truth when she had learnt the reality from Iqbal bhai that day. Sonakshi probably made Samaira feel worse by hiding the truth from her for so long. She was proud of her twin sister; her sister was certainly more courageous and self less than she had ever thought. It must have been so hard for Samaira to do what she did for both Dev and Sonakshi. Samaira's love was truly selfless, something one rarely saw in this day and age.

"Dev...ab ghar chalein? I really want to meet Samaira and seek her forgiveness," Sonakshi asked him softly.

"toh tum kaun ho? Samaira nahin ho? Main ne saari raat phir kisi aur ke saath guzaari hai?" Dev teased Sonakshi. Sonakshi hit him playfully, "aisi faltu baat mat karo......Samaira ki zindagi se ab door raho......bahut dukh diya hai hum dono ne uss bechari ko."

"OK...OK....madam....jo hukm! Accha hai Samaira ko apna superhero mil gaya.....he will hopefully be more sane than us foolish lovers.....she deserves someone more normal!" Dev laughed as they walked out hand in hand from the beach house.

Dev dropped Sonakshi home around 2 in the morning. As Sonakshi walked in, she saw Samaira waving bye to a tall, handsome, well built man. The man waved to her and blew a flying kiss, 'I love you Samaira! See you tomorrow!"

"toh yeh hain Dr Rajeev Chopra?" Sonakshi teased Samaira as they walked into their apartment.

Samaira blushed and hugged Sonakshi, "Happy New Year sweety!"

"Happy New Year behna!" Sonakshi hugged her back and kissed her cheek.

Samaira pulled away and looked at Sonakshi, "hmmmm......ab glow aayi tere chehre par......lagta hai Rehaan ka jadoo chal gaya phir?"

Sonakshi blushed and lowered her eyes, "nahin Dev ka!"

"Dekha! Main jaanti thi ki yeh kaam sirf Dev jaisa pagal lover boy hi kar sakta hai," Samaira smiled and then became a little emotional, "Aisa soch bhi kaise liya tuney ki main Dev se shaadi karke khush reh sakti hoon...waise hi Dev aur Sonakshi ko koi alag nahin kar sakta....ab kabhie Dev se alag hone ki sochna bhi mat....itni mushkil se uski do personalities ko ek kiya hai.....ab phir uska dil toot gaya toh kahin 8-10 personalities na ban jaaye.....unhein ek karne mein toh meri poori zindagi nikal jaayegi!" Samaira sighed.

Sonakshi hugged her back, "Thanks Samaira.....main promise karti hoon ki kabhie Dev ka saath nahin chhodoongi.....and you know......you are the best! "

"Jaanti hoon," Samaira smiled through her tears and hugged her back. Samaira might not have gotten the man she had loved, but the precious smile on her sister's face was worth a thousand Dev's for her. She would have never forgiven herself if she had found out the truth about Dev and Sonakshi after her marriage; she thanked her stars and silently thanked Rajeev for curing Dev's condition. Samaira smiled to herself when she recalled her wonderful date with Rajeev. He had picked her up after the party at Dev's house. He was a perfect gentleman and made her laugh throughout the evening. The best part was that he knew the truth about her Dev, Sonakshi and herself; so it made it easy to bond with him.
