Uncle Faunsy gave me the day off, today. He wanted me to take Laney and Wren ice fishing.

Let me tell you something. Trying to get a pampered, spoiled, greedy nine year old to do an out door leisure activity in negative 32 degrees is impossible! So Laney stayed home to paint her nails.  Looks like I'm alone with Wren.
My dad left me the keys to the snowmobile on the kitchen table so I'm guessing him and Faunsy had this planned out earlier without my knowledge. Which was so uncool but I didn't have anything else to do today.

Wren came wearing grey boots and snow pants and a yellow jacket.

"You look like a lightbulb." I snickered.

"You look like an oreo." he snapped back. I was wearing black sweatpants and boots and a white jacket with a black hat.

"That's the best you got?" I asked, testing him. He didn't say anything.

"Good. Lets go." I said. I led him to the snowmobile. I sat on the front.

"Hop on." I said shoving the key into the starter. I felt the back of the snowmobile go down a bit and I was raised up. Sort of the same feeling as when my dad sits on it.

"Okay hold onto my waist." I said starting the engine.

"No way. You should be holding onto me." Wren said.

"Do you know how to drive one of these?" I asked. He was silent.

"Do you want to go flying off one of these?" I asked. He was silent, then a second later he held my waist.
The bag full of equipment was on the back and everything was ready including the sled I tied to the side of the snow mobile for Lucy to sit on so she wouldn't have to chase us. I whistled for Lucy and she came barreling over. She plopped herself onto the sled and I began to drive.

Wren was quiet the entire ride. I was actually shocked he could stay quiet that long.

When we got to the ice fishing hut I stopped the snowmobile. The hut was small but tall and wooden with a star on it, for our last name.

"We're here." I said.

"Where exactly is here? That looks like an outhouse." Wren said in disgust.

"Come on Pretty Boy, it's time for you to get a taste of real life." I said strapping the equipment bag to my back. I started walking over to the hut when I realised the only one following me was Lucy.

"Wren come on. The ice is safe." I prodded.

"There are shadows moving beneath you! That so isn't safe." Wren complained pointing to the ice.

"Oh yeah, those are the cool and rare creatures called fish. You know, the main reason we are here?" I said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes and carefully took a step on the ice. Something inside of me clicked and I did something really mean but really funny, well for me.

"WREN LOOK OUT!" I yelled. He jumped back so quick and so far I'm surprised his isn't related to a snow hare. I laughed so hard I was crying. My stomach hurt so much from laughing that I toppled on the floor. Lucy was above me staring at me nervously. But I was okay. Wren, not so much. He was really mad.

"You scared the crap out of me! It's my first time out here! That was so not cool at all!" he sounded really pissed.

I struggled to get to my feet because I was still laughing.

"Wren," I said through giggles. "I'm sorry. But that was too funny."

"No it wasn't." he said still angry. I wiped a tear. I opened my arms as if to give him a hug.
