I love my dad.
But I love Wren.
Loving two people isn't easy. I can't abandon my dad, but I can't stand to be away from Wren. I have to make a choice. I have to take a risk.
After spending a month with Wren and his family I was head over heels for this family. His mom has a heart of gold. Laney is a sassy little sweetheart. And Wren is my other half. Mitchell has also warned up to me, he said I looked suitable. I guess that's good.
Today I'd be flying back to Alaska. After only texting my dad for days I was beginning to worry when we got on the plane. Wren squeezed my hand. I had been lying to my dad this entire time and today is be spilling the truth and the awful news.
the whole plane ride I remained quiet. Wren slept half the ride anyways so I had no need to keep conversation. I kept looking back at the letter from my mom. This was going to be hard.
When I landed I cried.
Yeah I cried and I cried so hard the the flight attendant kept rushing over asking if I was airsick on land? Wren stared at me.
"North, you made a choice. You either break out now or you go through with it." he said sternly. And honestly that helped a lot. I straightened up and nodded. But when we got to my house I felt like mush and I just wanted to collapse in my loft with Lucy by my side and cry. Like the olden days.
To make it even harder Beth, Wendy and Faunsy were all waiting there when I got home. My dad was the first to hug me and Faunsy was the first to question Wrens presence here.
"Dad, I lied. I couldn't-"
"North I know. I know you went to New York." He said.
"How?" I said completely drained. I had prepared this whole thing where I'd explain my love for Wren and my risk that mommy told me to make. I'd prepared for crying moments and big hugs. Bur not he stand in front of my face telling me he knew.
"Tori called and said your flight got switched and that you cancelled." he said. My jaw dropped. "North," my dad put a hand on my shoulder. "why didn't you just tell me?"
"Dad I love you. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Mommy told me in my note to take risks so I did and I'm about to take another right now." I said.
