Chapter 11

Alexs pov
     Me and Joseph are helping Liam and Theo at the abandoned zoo. Andruw is helping Chris, Scott, Malia, and Lydia. We are in Theo's truck at the zoo waiting for Mason. Liam calls Mason. He answers.
L: Did it work?
M: Yep, Nolan's right behind me. Like literally right behind me. He's driving a bright red car. He's actually terrible at this.
L: Okay. Just be careful.
M: Okay.

We all walk out of Theo's car greeting Mason. Theo, me, and Joseph get the sleeping bags and supplies to trick the hunters.
"Okay, how close is he?" Liam asks Mason.
"He's back down the road," Mason answers. "Don't look. Should I come with you guys?"
Theo butts into their conversation. "His friends shoot to kill. Go home."
We put the rest of supplies in Theo's truck.
"Okay. Yea, Lydia would kill me if anything happened to her car anyways so," Mason agrees.
"Don't worry about it. Nolan's gonna do the rest," Liam assures.
Mason leaves and we drive further into the zoo, setting up camp.
While waiting for the hunters to come we all talk.
"No one ever told my what you guys are," Theo tells me.
"Well it's a long story," I tell him.
"We have time."
Once I finish telling him what I told Liam, Mason, and Corey he stares at me wide eyed.
"If your fear now, can't you control the Anuk-ite," he asks.
"No, it's not one of my monsters, or creations. It's my mother's. So technically the Anuk-ite is my little brother. I think he's roughly 200 years old maybe. Or more. But since he was created by my mother, I have no control over him," I explain.
"Oh."
We hear a truck arrive and see Nolan and two hunters.
"It's just Nolan and two other guys," Liam noted. "This isn't gonna work."
"Where's the back up?" Liam looks at Theo after Theo asks. "Shouldn't there be like twenty of them?" Liam turns back to look at the hunters.
"They're not going to believe Nolan. Didn't he screw up big time?" Joseph asks.
"Yea he did," I think for a moment.
"Okay," is what I hear Theo say, he must have an idea. He smirks. "Then they have to believe us. Isn't that right!" He begins to project his voice so the hunters can hear. Me and Joseph understand what he's doing although, Liam doesn't.
"Why are you yelling?" Liam whispers.
"What?! You got a problem?" Theo says still yelling. "Oh that's right you always have a problem."
"What the hell are you doing?" Liam asks.
"Shut up!" Theo yells. I have to suppress a laugh because of Liam's confused face. Then Theo punches him. Both me a Joseph weren't expecting that. Liam and Theo both stand up. "Yea you see that Scott? Little beta can't even take a punch. And what do you think Malia." Joseph summons a bowl of popcorn and we're eating eat watching Liam and Theo. "You think you can take me?"
"Okay. I get it. But did you actually have to punch me?" Liam questions. Theo punches him again. Then they both are full on fighting. Throwing punches. Theo keeps dodging Liam. "See what I mean Scott. He's only good in a fight when he's angry. So let's see just how angry he gets." Theo is having fun taunting Liam. I think he's testing something. I don't know what though. Liam growls and Theo punches him again. They stop talking and just fight. I heard bones breaking and at the end Theo clawed Liam's torso.
"Are you done or should we keep going?" Liam asks panting.
Theo turns to see the hunters calling for backup. He turns back to Liam. "I think their sold."
Liam looks down at his shirt. "You ripped my T-shirt."
"Yea you broke my nose. Twice. It healed, you broke it again." He holds up two fingers. "Two times."
Liam punches Theo again. Theo slides down the rock he was leaning on. "Three times."
They look at me and Joseph with our empty bowl of popcorn. "What?" I ask, mouth still full.
"You think this was funny?" Liam asks.
"Oh no honey. I thought it was hilarious." I smirk.

Half an hour later
After walking through the zoo we all find each other.
"There's still three of them and it's been half an hour," Liam informs.
"Don't blame me. Your the one that picked the abandoned zoo. What the hell are we doing in this place anyway," Theo retorts.
"Because it's like Mykonos," Liam says.
"Like what," Theo asks confused.
"The Greek island." Seeing Theo's confused face Liam continues. "In the city they built these long, narrow, winding streets that all meet up with each other. Invaders would get lost in them like the were in a maze trying to figure out which way to go." Seeing Theo stare at him Liam says, "What? I like history."
"I'm impressed," is all Theo says.
"Me too," I agree. "Not many kids know about Mykonos. I remember some of it. I believe I lived there for a century or so."
Joseph stares and me. "Really?" I nod. "I'm learning new things about you everyday."
"It's a good idea," Theo says to Liam.
"Yea only if the invaders actually show up," he looks at Theo, eyes filled with worry.
We then notice two more SUV's arrive, Monroe and Gerard in them.
"I think they just showed up," Joseph comments.
Theo walks up the steps, closer to me and Joseph. Liam doesn't follow him. "Let's go. We're supposed to be decoys not target practice. Still working on that anger?" He asks Liam.
"I'm fine," is all Liam says.
"Well you can be angry at Nolan and stay alive come on." Theo puts a hand on Liam's shoulder, trying to get him to move, Liam shrugs his hand off. "Fine, get caught." Theo then turns away, looking at me and Joseph and says, "Let's go." We do and Liam eventually follows.
We hide behind some concrete walls. Liam peers over the side and sees Nolan. He's still majorly pissed.
Theo pulls him back slightly. "If you keep looking like that he's gonna see you. Get back." Liam ignores him and looks again. Theo makes him turn around, getting irritated at Liam's childishness. "I'm not dying it here because you want pay back against a kid who kicked your ass okay?" Liam turns back around and fed up, Theo yanks him away, creating noise drawing Nolan our way.
"Let go!" Liam demands.
"Calm down," Theo yells at him.
"I said let go." Liam flashes his golden eyes.
"What's going on with you?" Theo lowers his voice to a normal volume. "This can't just be Nolan, something around here is triggering you."
"I'm fine." I snort knowing immediately that Liam is lying. He glares at me.
"What is it?" Theo asks, worry hidden well in his voice. "The hunters? You don't like cages? You scared of heights?"
"I said I'm fine," Liam says raising his voice.
All of us are too focused on Liam to hear Nolan approaching. "Their up here!" Liam growls loudly and tackles Nolan, falling off a small cliff. The rest of us look down.
"Shit," Joseph and I say in unison.
Liam gets up growling at Nolan, who is shakily pointing a crossbow at him. We all run down to stop Liam from killing him.
"She wants me to kill you," Nolan says. "She'll kill me if I don't." Liam roars and knocks the crossbow out of Nolan's hand, pinning him to a wall. He punches the wall instead of Nolan, breaking his own hand instead. Theo knocks Liam out.
"Run," I tell Nolan.
Theo had to knock Liam out multiple times. Later we brought him to the car, and started driving, it was already dark. Joseph had fallen asleep on top of me and I tried to fall asleep, but didn't.
Liam wakes up and puts a hand to his jaw.
Thinking I'm asleep Theo talks to Liam. "I had to knock you out."
"Yea how many times?"
"Five." He turns to Liam smirking.
"I almost killed him didn't I?"
"Almost. But you broke your hand trying not to."
Liam scoffs. "I guess that's something."
"Next time you come up with a plan like this, pick a place that doesn't trigger a murderous rage."
"I didn't know this was gonna happen."
"Whether you meant it or not, you picked the spot. You made the plan. You wanted me to help."
"I didn't need your help for anything, could be so I got angry enough to kill you myself."
"You brought me here because that thing that came out of the wild hunt is effecting you too. K' you need to fight this out before you completely lose it."
"The Anuk-ite causes fear it doesn't cause anger, right Alex?"
"Alex and Joseph both fell asleep a while ago and," he took a breath, "people only feel one emotion at a time, Liam. Which is why you get angry when your afraid. It's why you almost tore Nolan's head off."
Liam sighs. "If the Anuk-ite can do this to me, what do you think it's doing to everyone else?"
