Chapter 5

Alex pov
   Ok wow this is really really weird. I have no clue what to do so let's just go with the flow.
   "Okay.... Andruw, Phoebe, Kristen, Selma, Joseph, and Dmitry come here."
   They all surround the desk I put the book on. Joseph standing next to me.
   "Joseph, you smell like a dog. It's gross."
   "Well so do you," he growls back
    I growl at him and I feel fangs growing out of my gums. I see his eyes start to glow green.
    "Wow calm down both of you," Phoebe says as she puts her hands on our chests, drawing us apart.
    "Alex your growing claws. You too Joseph," Dmitry eyes us warily.
    "I can feel both of your anger directed at each other so both of you need to calm down and not argue with each other before one of you kills somebody," Selma warns.
    "Alright I'm calm," I assured no longer barring claws and fangs.
    "Me too," Joseph repeats.
    "I think we have to leave the school. If the two are unstable, who's to say the rest of us won't do the same thing. It's too dangerous," Selma urged.
     "As much as I hate school we can't just leave, and even if we could we have nowhere to go," Kristen debated.
     We all looked at each other.
     Phoebe spoke up, "There's no other choice we have to leave, and as to where, we can go to Alex's house, right Alex?"
     "Mhm."
     "Then it's settled we're leaving," Selma declares.
      Before our teacher could stop us we grab our stuff and run out of the room to the first floor, me and Joseph running faster than the rest of our friends. Once we reach the first floor we stay in the stairway and pull our jackets on.
      "Alright we gotta go to the exit on this side so no one sees," Andruw said as he pointed to his left.
      "Come on," I urged already walking toward the exit.
      "How do we leave with out setting off the alarm?" Dmitry asks all of us already at the door.
      Andruw answers, "I'll pick the lock of the alarm. Do any of you have paper clips?"
      "Yea," Phoebe rummages through her bag pulling out 3 paper clips, handing them to Andruw, "here."
      "Thanks." Andruw then begins to pick the lock of the alarm.
     "How do we know when it's unlocked?" Joseph asks.
     I begin to explain, "You see how the little light there is glowing red," he nods his head, "when it's unlocked it'll glow green instead."
      The light begins to glow green.
      "Yes!" Andruw celebrates.
      "Let's go!" Selma says while running out of the school.

———— at Alex's house ————

      "Finally. Let's all go downstairs."
      Once everyone is downstairs we all relax for a minute.
     "This is crazy," Dmitry commented
     "Yeah, I know but it's happening. Please calm down I can feel your worry from here," Selma complained.
     I stood up.
     "Alex, what are you doing?" Phoebe asks.
     I ignore her and walk towards a bookshelf. For some reason I feel drawn to it. I run my hands over the books. I can sense everyone's eyes on me. I pull on one of the books and the bookshelf slides revealing a stairwell.
      "Wow that's cliché," Dmitry sneered.
      The rest of us ignore him and begin to walk down the staircase. At the bottom I notice a light switch. I switch it up and the room lights up. It's ginormous.
"Whoa," Joseph whistled.
The room has a bunch of areas. A few desks, a training area, another room with a pool, weapons, a library, anything we could need.
We go towards the books all wondering what is going on with us. I pick up a book and sit on the floor and begin to read, Selma does the same. We are both in our own world until we hear Kristen calling our names.
"Yeah?" Both of us not looking up from our books.
"Look down," Kristen says.
We do and find that we are 6 feet off the ground. I fall.
"Ow," I complain.
Selma starts laughing at me then suddenly stops a look of fear stains her face, "uhhh guys I can't get down," She gulps. Now it was our turn to laugh.
"Guys this isn't funny I can't get down," she complains worriedly.
"Just close your eyes and think about floating back down to the ground okay?" Dmitry assures her.
She closes her eyes and begins to float down, the rest of us helping.
"Guys! I think I have something! Come here," Phoebe waves us over. "There's some type of spell to gives us a book about ourselves all we need is here."
"Let's do it then," Joseph says excitedly.

———After the spell————

We all got our own books. Phoebe's was gray. Joseph's was green. Kristen's was both black and white. Dmitry's was red. Andruws was electric blue. Selma's was purple. Mine was mostly black with a little bit of white and blue.
"So get this, turns out my powers are teleportation, inter dimensional travel, I have wings, air and wind manipulation, I'm a mermaid, sound manipulation, superhuman reflexes and agility, a sonic scream and invisibility," Phoebe lists.
"Cool. Well my powers are teleportation, inter dimensional travel, possession, darkness and shadow manipulation, disintegration, intangibility, and light manipulation," Kristen announced.
"My powers are astral projection-" I cut Selma off.
"Wait. Here it says that the people I share my power with will have powers related to earth, air, fire, electricity, darkness/light, and mind/spirit."
"Well I think that Phoebe is air, Kristen is darkness and light, and based off the colors of the books I'm earth, Dmitry is fire, and Andruw is electricity, and then that leaves Selma to be mind and spirit," Joseph concludes.
"We should read up on our powers and for some of us species," Andruw suggested.
We all agreed.
