The Marauders were huddled in the common room. The other Gryffindors were out at breakfast, which the Marauders had finished a while ago. Peter was fiddling with his wand, muttering his Charms work under his breath to remember; Remus had his nose in Quidditch Through the Ages and his eyes shot across the pages; Sirius lounged on the couch, staring at the ceiling; and James was staring at the floor, thinking.
Idiot Potter, he thought. You're tying too hard. You have too much school work to do, you forget to do your homework once more, and you're down for two detentions-
"James?" Sirius mumbled.
"Mmm?"
"What're you thinking about?"
James shrugged a little. "Nothing."
Sirius sat up. "James, something is bothering you."
The Potter boy glared at Sirius growled a little. "I said I'm fine."
"James Potter." Sirius's voice was firm. "You will tell me what is wrong. Now."
James ignored his friend and sighed, looking back down at the floor.
"James, come on."
James didn't move. Sirius sighed. Even though they all made fun of each other at some point, they still cared about the others' well-being. And Sirius hated seeing James this upset.
"Potter, don't make me take desperate measures," Sirius warned. James still didn' reply, even though anxiety was churning in his stomach: Sirius only used his surname if he was very serious.
"Bite me," James said through gritted teeth. He knew it was a death wish, but he'd be damned if he ever told the others he was worryingly about school.
Sirius smirked. He knew his best friend's only weakness, and James knew it. Sirius inched towards James, his grin growing wider every moment.
Suddenly he shot his hand out and skittered his fingers over James' side for a moment. His friend squeaked.
"Don't y- oof!" James had inched back and fallen over the side of the couch, and now lay on the carpet. Sirius wasted no time in hopping off the couch and tackling James, sitting on his hips to keep him from moving. James grasped Sirius's wrists but he, being the stronger one, wrenched free and pinned James's hands above his head.
"Don't you DARE, Sirius Black- AGH!" James squealed as Sirius dug into his ribs with one hand. He arched his back.
"HAHALP! HE-HEHE'S KIHIHILLIHING MEHEHE!" James cried, bucking and trying to throw his captor off. Sirius stayed on and began to tickle at his friend's ribs with both hands and releasing his hands. James reached up and poked at Sirius's tummy, making the older yelp and tumble away. Soon James was on top, scratching ruthlessly at Sirius's stomach, with the trapped Marauder below him howling and thrashing, his head thrown back. Remus looked up for a moment and smiled.
"Here, I'll help," he said, standing up and walking over.
"Thank you, Rem- Hey! Let go!" Remus grabbed James around the torso and dragged him off, despite being smaller than him, and held his arms behind his back.
"Thanks, Moony!" Sirius spidered over James's ribs, causing him to shriek and burst into loud and hysterical laughter tugging desperately at his arms.
"SIHIHIRIHIHIUHUHUS NAHAHAHAHOHOHO!" James pleaded and let out a squeal as Sirius leaned over and nuzzles at James's neck, still attacking his ribs.
"Sirius yes! You need to tell me what you're so sad about, James!" Sirius argued teasingly, blowing a raspberry on James's neck. James nearly screamed and threw his head against Remus, cackling crazily. A blush spread across his face.
Sirius stopped to let James breathe, and said, "so, Mister Blush. Ready to spill?"
James didn't reply, still breathless. Remus released him and he sat there for a moment.
"I have one thing in mind," James said with dark mocking in his voice after he had caught his breath. "Revenge."
Sirius went pale. Then he jumped up and started to run towards the boys' dorm, but Remus scooped up his wand with a flick of it Sirius toppled over.
"Ow, what the fuck?!" He complained.
"Tripping charm," Remus explained, approaching with James on his tail. "Now stay still. And no swearing, Merlin's Beard."
"No!" But Sirius was already trapped, as James scooted forward and pinned him down, his hands above his head and James sitting on his hips.
"Hold his wrists for me?" James asked Remus.
"Sure," the werewolf replied, taking Sirius's wrists from James.
"Hey, no fair!" Sirius complained, squirming.
"Yes fair," James said teasingly, suddenly scrabbling at Sirius's tummy. He shrieked and melted into hysterics once again.
"PLEHEHEHEASE JAHAHAHAMES AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sirius arched his back and bucked, trying everything to throw James off, but the boy didn't budge, his eyes shining behind his glasses as he stared at Sirius.
"Wow, Sirius. I didn't know you were this bad!" He exclaimed.
"SHUHUHUHUT UHUHUHUHAHAHAHA!" Sirius shrieked loudly, and James looked down so see his hands has wandered to his friend's underarms.
"Ticklish underarms, Padfoot?" He teased, doing every possible thing to make Sirius feel the sensations. And boy, did he ever. Sirius was practically dying under Remus and James, his laughter right in the middle (not too high, not too low). Tears leaked from the corners of his squeezed-shut eyes, and he tugged weakly at his arms.
James realized after a few minutes that Sirius was nearly done, his laughter hoarse and his movements weaker. He stopped.
"You okay, dude?" James said worriedly. Sirius didn't speak for a moment, but just as James was about to ask again, he rasped, "I'm fine, ya arseholes."
"No cursing!" James scolded, poking Sirius's tummy and making him squeal.
"okokokimdone," Sirius said quickly. James smiled. "Good."
"What in Godric's name is going on?"
All three of them went stiff, and they looked over to see Lily Evans standing in the doorway.
"We were exploiting Sirius's extremely ticklish tummy to the fullest," James said, smirking. Sirius went dark red.
But Lily laughed. "You three are idiots. And Peter went back for more food, just so you know."
"I'm not an idiot, I just helped whichever side was winning," Remus piped up.
"You're next, Moony."
"Wait what- OH MERLIN NO."
"Mind joining us, Evans?"
"No thanks, James. I need to get my Astronomy work done for the next class."
"Your funeral."
And Remus ran, chased by Sirius and James, as Lily went up the stairs to her dorm.
Lily listened to the sound of the boys horsing around and the loud peals of laughter from all three, and smiled.
Typical Marauders.
So here.
Yeah.
Shut up this is cute.
