Pairing: Virgil x Calypso (my OC)

Story: Calypso's husband, Virgil Sanders, has been working for the U.S. Army for two years, not once returning. Calypso, beyond all hope of seeing him again, goes to graduation alone and upset. But as she steps up to receive her diploma she spots  someone she never thought would come home.

I stepped up to receive my graduation diploma, grinning.

"I now award Calypso Sanders her diploma. Congratulations," said my teacher, Mr. Heisenberg. I took it from him, my face aching from smiling so much. Clapping filled my ears.

I suddenly thought of Virgil Sanders, the man I had married who went off to war two years ago. Tears welled in my eyes as I pictured his purple hair, heavy eyeshadow, patched hoodie, and glowing smile.

If only he were here to see me right now.

"Before we continue," said Mr. Heisenberg suddenly, making me stop in my tracks. I blinked in surprise.

"I would like to bring attention to the fact that Calypso's husband went off to war two years ago."

I nearly cursed at Mr. Heisenberg for bringing it up, but I bit my lip and listened to him continue.

"Virgil Sanders is a good soldier, and I'm sure he would give anything to be here tonight, watching his wife recieve her diploma."

I stared at the floor, at my long black socks and my white shoes.

"But thanks to staff and parent help," Mr. Heisenberg said, making me perk up, "he is."

I heard footsteps climb the stairs onto the stage where I stood. I looked up, my eyes widened and I slapped a hand across my mouth.

"V-Virgil?!"

And there's he was, standing before me. Purple hair, glowing smile, and all.

He looked different in his army uniform, tight and rigid, and his once-bright purple eyes were duller than before, but they still lit up and filled with tears as he saw my expression.

He opened his arms.

Tears immediately blurred my eyes and I let them fall as I stared at the man I had loved for six years, and had not hoped to see again.

I rushed forward without knowing what I was doing and threw myself into his arms. They wrapped around me and lifted me into the air, and I felt my heart swell. Tears seemed to forever flow down my face, but I didn't care.

"I-I thought you... you weren't coming back," I whimpered, pressing deep into his green and grey uniform.

"Why would I not?" He said softly, planting a small kiss on my head.

It was then that I heard cheering.

I looked up to see everyone in the school on their feet, whooping and hollering. I felt a grin spread across my face and I looked back at Virgil.

"They're cheering for you," I whispered.

"No. They're cheering for YOU," he purred, pressing his lips to mine. I kissed back, relishing the feeling. It had been so long.

After a few moments he broke away, staring at me with love and wonder in his eyes, the most emotion I had ever seen him wear. I couldn't stop the tears from flooding down my face, and he couldn't either.

"I love you, I love you so much," I murmured.

"I know," he replied softly, "and I love you too."

I pressed against him again. He chuckled, the tickly vibrations rippling through me and making me giggle.

Oh, my dear, brave Virgil.

I thought you would never come home.
