"You'll handle the press, Aud?"
"Don't even worry about that shit, kid. You just try and calm down, alright? Almost a fifteen hour flight ahead of you - you gonna be okay?"
"Course. Don't worry." I assured her, settling into the private waiting area before I boarded my flight.
"Good girl," she praised. "Alright, hun, I better get going. Send me a text when you land, kay?"
"Sure thing," I smiled as we ended the call.
I scrolled through my texts, selecting a groupchat with my parents. I smiled as I read their messages regarding my flight to Sydney - it must be difficult living in a different country from their only daughter.
Have a great trip honey!!!! Be safe and text me when you land. Love you lots <3333
Xoxo, MomText us when you land and have a safe trip! Fifteen hour flight.... Hopefully they have a good selection of wine on the plane! - Dad
I typed out a reply to my parents and opened up Instagram, scrolling through my feed and replying to some fans.
Soon enough, a woman tapped me on the shoulder, telling me that it could board now. I stood and slung my bag over my shoulder, lowering my sunglasses over my eyes. I handed the attendant my boarding pass and showed her my passport again before I entered the connecting bridge to the plane, swallowing my nerves. This was the easy part - a plane ride, the hard part would begin when I actually landed and had to face my ex-boyfriend and his friends.
Once seated in first class, I pushed my earbuds into my ears and closed my eyes - only fifteen hours to go.
Exactly fifteen hours later, I was off the plane and through security, my own private security team grabbing my bags for me as I prepared myself for the paparazzi that, sure enough, were awaiting my arrival.
"Fucking hell," I muttered as my security teamed helped me push through the mass of people crowding the Sydney International Airport.
"Ma'am, Miss Davis informed me that there will be a car waiting to bring you to your meeting with 5 Seconds of Summer - would you like us to escort you or would you rather rendezvous at the hotel?" My head of security, Britney, asked.
I shook my head, 'no'. "Rendezvous at the hotel - I'll bring Jameson with me."
Brit nodded and began speaking into her earpiece, ordering people around as Jameson, my bodyguard, began clearing a path for me. Jameson had to essentially shove me into the awaiting black car, but I didn't even care.
How could I?
Not when in thirty minutes I would be face-to-face with Luke Hemmings once again.
"Miss Chambers? We're here." Jameson said to me, startling me awake.
I rubbed at my tired eyes - damn jetlag. "Thanks, James." I yawned.
I quickly exited the vehicle and stretched, scanning the building I was situated in front of. When Audrey had contacted the band's manager, he had specified that I would have to come to them this time - which explained why I was in Australia - and that I would be meeting the boys at their studio, on the other side of Sydney.
"I'll be going in now, James," I said stiffly. "You can go back to the hotel now."
He shifted his weight side-to-side. "Miss Davis gave me explicit orders to stay with you."
"And Audrey works for me." I said, staring at him blankly. "Go take lunch at least. I can always call for a ride to the hotel when the meeting is done."
Jameson visibly hesitated - he looked quite torn. He relented eventually though, and was driving away, leaving me walking into the studio, feeling as if I was going to war.
I smiled at a young man sitting behind a computer in the lobby. "Hi there, I'm here to meet 5 Seconds of Summer - Jasmine Chambers."
He didn't even look up from his computer as he directed me to the meeting location.
I frowned as I made my way to the room he'd directed me to - some intern he was.
Biting my lip, I knocked lightly on the door that the man had instructed me to, praying this was the right place. I counted to three in my head, holding my breath; there was movement and voices on the other side of the door, distinctly masculine.
Then, the door opened.
It was Michael.
He smiled when he saw me and held the door wider for me, letting me squeeze past him into the recording studio. "She's here guys! Told ya she'd show."
"Damn," Calum murmured as he eyed me, reclining on a leather couch, an acoustic bass in hand. "Didn't think she'd show."
I sneered. "I arranged for this meeting, why wouldn't I show?"
"'Cause it would be a bitch thing to do," Luke said, standing and striding over to me.
It took everything in me to not flinch back at his closeness. I hated how small he made me feel, how weak and powerless I felt around him.
"Nice to see you again," he grinned, "Princess."
I scowled, "I have a name, you know."
"Oh, I know. I also know you hate it when I call you Princess," he said with a wink.
I sniffed. "Whatever. I'm not here to bicker about your childish antics. I'm here to tell the four of you that you will stop mentioning me in your interviews. And for the love of god, stop writing about your ex-girlfriends! What are you guys, the next Taylor Swift?"
Ashton burst out laughing.
"Always were a classy one, weren't ya?" He chuckled.
"Shut the fuck up," I hissed, my voice dripping with venom.
"Woah, woah, Jazz, calm down. He was just trying to diffuse the tension." Michael said.
I whirled on him. "I'm not here to make up for lost time."
"Clearly," Luke snorted. "Look, Jazzy, we have a right to our creative license - you can't stop us from writing about you if we want to. Sorry to have wasted your time coming here."
"And what about the interviews?"
Luke shrugged. "They asked questions, I answered. Honestly."
"You're making the press assume all these things about me, it's all they're talking about."
"That's hardly our fault, Jasmine." Calum said, strumming random chords.
"I don't care," I snapped. "None of you will ever mention me in an interview again."
"How about, we make a deal instead." Luke smirked, his bandmates eyeing him curiously. "Listen, the fans have been eating up all this drama between us," he gestured to me. "My idea: you star in a lyric video with me."
"You already have a music video for the song - why bother with a lyric video?" I scoffed.
Luke smirked. "Think of it as an under the radar way of saying our final farewell."
"I do this video, and you'll back off?" I asked, voice small.
Luke nodded, eyes locked on mine. It was like there was nobody else in the room - Calum, Michael and Ashton completely forgotten as we stared at one another. "You do this video, and you never have to see my face again."
I closed my eyes, breaking the connection with Luke. "I'll do it."
