Luke felt his anger melt away instantly - Jasmine was on the other other line.
"Luke!" Jasmine hiccupped smiling widely. "About fricking time!"
Luke chuckled - Jasmine was always an incredibly clingy, giggly drunk. He always found it cute and endearing. "How did you even get my number?" She took a sip from her bottle, making Luke narrow his eyes. "And I think you've had enough of that, Jazz."
"I got it from Audrey!" She squeaked in between sips, ignoring his other statement.
"Easy there, Jazz," he gestured to the liquor bottle. "Maybe slow down a bit; have some water and something to eat, okay?"
"Nu-uh, blondie. You ain't my boyfriend, you don't get to control me no more!" Her words were slightly slurred.
Luke rubbed his forehead. "That may be the case, but I still care about you. Now, how about you put that stuff down, and go get some water and an apple, think you can do that?"
"But I like it! It makes my brain funny."
"I know, Princess, but it's not good for your tummy." Luke explained, feeling unease begin to creep in.
Jasmine froze and turned to look at him, looking confused. "I'm not a princess. Meghan Markle is a princess."
Luke chuckled, relieved his slip-up of her old nickname didn't register in her brain. "You can be a princess without marrying a prince." He told her. "Besides, you'll always be my princess, and I'm certainly no prince," he mumbled to himself.
Jasmine finally set her bottle down and shifted, the connection briefly disconnecting, making Luke's heart skip a beat - Jasmine may not call back if the connection dropped; this was his only shot to talk to her. But sure enough, Jasmine's smiling face appeared in the center of Luke's phone, making him exhale the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.
"Hi!!" She giggled.
Luke smiled. "Hi."
She tilted her head to the side, dark brown hair falling in front of her eyes, making her blow at them irritably and eliciting a chuckle from Luke. "You're adorable," he murmured quietly, content just to gaze at her.
"Wait, are you listening to 'Youngblood'?" Luke asked suddenly, utterly bewildered.
Jasmine flushed and fidgeted. "Maybe..."
"Why?"
She shrugged. "It's pretty and makes me feel like I'm still important to you."
Luke closed his eyes. She was drunk; she didn't mean anything that she said. "Jazz, you are important to me."
"No I'm not."
"And why do you think that?" Luke asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"If you really loved me, you wouldn't have cheated on me," she stated matter-of-factly.
Luke groaned. "I thought we've been over this. I did love you - I do still love you."
"You don't cheat on people you love."
Luke was beginning to get frustrated. He knew it wasn't Jasmine's fault; she had been drinking and was obviously still deeply hurt by his actions, but he didn't know how he could make her understand. He didn't know how he could make her notice the love that he felt for her. "I cheated on you because I made a very silly, very big mistake. And I would give anything in this world to have another chance to make it up to you."
Jasmine's lower lip wobbled and then she was sobbing, her eyes flooded with tears. "D-did I re-really push t-that much? Did I make you c-cheat?" She asked through her tears.
