A/N: This is probably my favourite chapter that I've written so far. Honestly guys, get you a relationship like Jazz and Luke
Enjoy the chapter! :)
"I forgot how much I missed this place," I moaned as I took a large bite of my pancakes.
Luke grinned and sipped his coffee, watching me carefully. "So, what you're saying is that no place in LA can compare?"
"That's one hundred and twenty-three percent what I'm saying."
"You know the actual phrase is one hundred and ten percent."
"Exactly, I'm thirteen percent happier than whoever invented that phrase."
"Why twenty-three?"
"Why not twenty-three?"
"Why not twenty-one? Your favourite number."
I wrinkled my nose. "I do not have a favourite number."
"Do too," he smirked.
"Okay, fine. I do. But why the hell do you remember that anyways? Of all the things to remember about me, you choose the weirdest thing."
"That's me, rememberer of weird things about my ex-girlfriends," he chirped, making me giggle.
I finished off my stack of pancakes and took a hefty sip of coffee, licking my lips with a sigh. "I will say this about Canada, their maple syrup kicks ass compared to whatever this stuff is." I pointed to the bottle of amber syrup on the table with a scowl.
Luke raised his mug, "I'll drink to that."
We clinked glasses and I eyed his last pancake hungrily. Luke rolled his eyes playfully and pushed his plate over, swapping mine with his. "Take it."
"You sure?" I asked, already cutting into it with my fork and knife.
"How kind of you to ask when you've already drooled over it."
"Shut up," I laughed as I popped a piece of pancake into my greedy mouth, relishing in the fluffiness of it.
Luke leaned back into the booth, grinning as he watched me gorge myself on pancakes. "I haven't seen you eat this much since your eighteenth birthday."
"Oh my god," I mumbled between mouthfuls. "And Aidan got me high! You had to take care of me all night," I giggled, remembering how my older brother had given me weed brownies to celebrate my big day.
He chuckled at the memory. "I wanted to kill him myself, but you were so cute and complaining about being hungry."
I pointed my fork at him. "Don't blame me, blame the weed."
He chuckled while I continued eating, both of us content with the silence that followed. When Luke's plate was also wiped clean and the waitress had taken our plates and refilled our mugs, Luke spoke, "so. You go back to LA tomorrow."
I nodded, wiping my face with a napkin. "This is true."
He leaned his forearms on the table, "is there anything you want to do or see before you head back?"
"Hm," I considered his question, leaning back into the booth. "I do miss Mama Liz."
Luke winced. "Yeah, she gave me hell for what I did to you."
"All the more reason to idolize the woman."
"True, true. She never like Arzaylea. Actually, I think you were the only one of my girlfriends that she's ever liked."
