"How are you sure?" I ask Violet. There is no way my parents committed suicide.

"Just think about it. When you found out your parents were dead, the cause of death was never announced. They just said they were murdered, but didn't provide anything in addition to that. Why do you think that is?" she questions.

"Umm...confidential information?" I suggest.

"No, if it was really murder, the police would have done an investigation. They would have called you and had to find out who took the lives of two innocent people. They didn't set up an investigation though. If it was suicide, then there wouldn't be a person they are looking for so that means no investigation," she explains.

"But...but...why would my mom and dad do something like that?" I wonder out loud.

"My mother knew your parents when they were in high school together. They had their own little group and stayed in contact with each other after they graduated up until the death of your parents. That's actually how I met Lily. My mother told me she wouldn't be that surprised if they really did commit suicide," Violet says. Maybe that's how Mary knew my name when I saw her at the coffee shop. She was friends with the people who gave me life.

"Really? What would lead her to think that?" I ask.

"I'm not sure. She didn't tell me. I'm guessing it has something to do with how well she knew them in high school," she says.

No one says much after that. Each of us are consumed in our own thoughts. I chew my lower lip, a habit I developed recently, while trying to come up with some sort of explanation for all of this.

Lily breaks the silence and speaks for the first time in a while. "We'll just have to gather information more about Leanne and Finely Rivers and what their high school life was like. If any of this suicide or 'Z' stuff has to do with the high school past of our parents, we should probably know who they were back then. We need things like what they did, who they would hang out with, and what they were like in general," she states.

"Yeah, you're right," Violet nods her head in agreement.

I hear voices come from down the hall, getting progressively louder. The monkeys enter the living room and take a seat on the other couch, opposite of the one Lily, Violet, and I are on.

"Hi, I'm Violet," The boys wave at her as she introduces herself.

"I'm Niall."

"Zayn."

"Harry."

"Liam,"

"Louis."

Violet nods her head after each name and gives them a wide grin.

"What's going on? Before we came in, you all seemed to be in the middle of a serious conversation," Liam observes.

"We got knew information about Z," Lily starts. I guess she must have filled them in on what they missed while I was gone. "It turns out that our parents weren't murdered. They killed themselves," she continues.

Niall, Louis, and Zayn gasp, while Harry and Liam stay silent.

"Why?" Louis asks. His eyebrows are drawn together, like he is in deep thought. The rest of the boys mirroring his image.
