Chapter 15
Ross' POV
I hadn't heard from Laura in two days nor of the director I had visited a week ago. I guess Laura had some family stuff with her Mom. But we didn't have to see each other every day, we also needed our personal time.
Since I haven't heard anything from the directors for a pretty long time, I decided I should give them a call.
''Kevin Kopelow here.''
''Hi, this is Ross.''
''Oh.''
Jeez! He sounded excited to hear something from me.
Oh right. I had yelled at him the last time I saw him.
''Hi Ross.''
''Hi Sir.'' Now this time, I had to be really polite. ''First, I wanted to apologize for my bad behavior last time I saw you.''
''Well it's nice of you to call to apologize!''
''I was also wondering if you considered what I told you a week ago. About Laura.''
''You know what kid, I hate to say it but I think you had a point. I discussed it with Heath and thinks the same. Maybe we looked at this situation from the wrong angle.''
''Oh. Well Sir, I was really hoping you'd say that.''
''But Ross, we have a problem. And I feel like it would be better if we would discuss it face to face with Heath. So would you mind coming over to the studios?''
''No problem. I'll be there in 20.''
''Perfect. See you there.''
A... problem?
What kind of problem was he talking about?
***
''Thank you Ross for coming so fast.''
''But-, what's the big problem?''
''Well when we decided to change our minds about Laura having the role, it-, it was a little too late...''
''What do you mean, too late?!''
''We talked to the actress who had initially the role and she kind of didn't want to give it away to some other girl no one knew...''
''But what can you guys do?!'' I asked looking back and forth at Heath and Kevin since they were the only one in the room. ''Aren't you the directors? The ones that have the final decision on everything? Just make her decline the role or just fire her!''
''It's not like that Ross. The contract clearly says that you can't fire someone that hasn't worked yet. So we can't technically fire her...''
''...We'll have to make her quit.'' I said, finishing his idea.
''Exactly.''
Then he looked around him. There was no one. He still went to the door and closed it. He came back to sit beside Heath and in front of me.
''But, um-, what am I here exactly...?''
Heath spoke up.
''Look, Kevin and I have a plan. It's really risky, but we are pretty sure it'll work. Your role is technically to make sure Laura never finds out. Now Ross, this part is the most important. If the girl finds out, she will maybe think about quitting and we can't go through all of this, understood?''
''Yes... but what are you planning exactly to do to make the girl quit?''
''Actors are looking for jobs, some work. And why do we need a job so much?''
