Chapter 33

Laura’s POV

One month later. One relationship later. One mind set later.

And I had a new boyfriend. Ask me how, but I’ll only tell you that life does help you with whatever you need help with. In my case, moving on.

The way we met was the sweetest way possible. I was getting a coffee one night because I needed energy for the rest of the night to write a paper for the day after. I had brought my notepad with me at the coffee shop to think about it with my drink. While I was writing, I felt a presence over my shoulder. I looked up and saw him, reading my paper. A few seconds later, he looked at me.

“English paper due tomorrow?” He asked.

“Yeah…” I really didn’t want him to think that I was that kind of person that start their work only the night before. “I don’t usually start this late but I was so busy with work that I forgot and didn’t find any time and-”

Then, I realised I was talking to a total stranger. “But you probably don’t know what I’m talking about, so I think I should stop talking.”

“You go to Chaminade?” He cut me off.

“I do! You go there too?”

“Yeah, I’m a senior!” He said as he sat down on the chair in front of me.

“No way! I’m a junior, though.”

So this is how I met Cody, my current boyfriend. That night after we talked for almost two hours, we gave out each other’s number and since then, it’s been amazing. He wants to be a photographer although his parents want him to be a lawyer. After he found out about my acting career, he was blown away. He didn’t know until I finally told him. It took me almost two weeks to tell him I was an actress, I liked being known just for Laura. Not Laura Marano from Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally. He asked me to be his model for a photo shoot. Of course, I said yes! It was a magical day, honestly. He is the sweetest, most amazing guy. He made me open my eyes to so many things I had never thought about.

And he was the one to convince me not to quit the show.

I had told him about Ross. Our ‘friendship’ or whatever we had now was making me sick. I talked to the directors about quitting. Obviously, they were really surprised because they had no idea what had happened between me and Ross. I didn’t know if I should have mentioned the fact that they fired my ‘used to be best friend’ and hired me instead, but I didn’t said a word about it.

Cody told me I had to finish what I had started, and move on from what had happened with the guy. I said I was going to be a lot more proud of myself if I would keep doing what I love, even if it’s with someone I have a past with, than just quitting and start all over again. He was right. But seeing Ross everyday was just pushing the knife deeper in my heart.

It had been hard, but Cody had always been there for me. He made me forget I had problems at all. And that was exactly what he was doing right now, as he was driving me to set. He was singing along to our album of The Beatles we had bought together a few days earlier.

“We’re here, babe.”

“Thank you so much!” I smiled as I pecked his lips and got out of the car.

I got in the studios and got greeted by Raini.

“Heeey Laura!”

“Hi love! What’s up?”

“Nothing much, honestly. What about you?” She asked me. “Still going strong with Cody?”

“Oh yes! He’s been amazing to me!”
