“Happy valentines day beautiful!” Luke said into the phone in a sing-songy voice.
“Hemmings, not that I don’t love to hear your voice, but it’s 8:00 in the fucking morning. It’s a Saturday, I should still be asleep,” I whined.
“Well no, because today is going to be Luke and Zoey’s day of fun!” he said excitedly.
“Have I ever mentioned that I hate how chipper you are in the morning?” I laughed, pulling off the covers.
“Once or twice, now get ready Banks because I’m picking you up in half an hour,” he said.
“What should I wear?” I said, walking over to my closet.
“It’s a surprise!” he exclaimed.
“What the hell is it with you and surprises Hemmings?” I said loudly.
“You should honestly be used to this babe,” he laughed into the phone.
“Whatever, I’ll see you soon. Love you,” I said.
“Love you,” he replied, hanging up the phone.

I tugged on my beanie and answered the door, slinging my purse over my shoulder.
“You look cute,” Luke said, leaning in and kissing me quickly.
“As do you,” I said shutting the door and taking in his appearance.
His usual blond quiff was pushed down slightly, a black beanie situated on his head. He was wearing this giant red puffy coat that looked like it was swallowing him. His cheeks were slightly pink from the cold, it was adorable.
I grabbed his hand as we walked to his car, him opening the door for me and waiting for me to enter.
He got in the car and pulled a small bag out from under the seat.
“For you,” he said handing me the e bag.
“Wait you didn’t get me a gift did you, because we agreed no gifts,” I said, panicking slightly.
“Nah, just breakfast,” he said.
I opened the bag and saw a blueberry muffin and a hot Starbucks drink. I pulled out the drink and took a sip, letting the hot liquid run down my throat.
“Aw you got me my vanilla late, this is true love,” I laughed, batting my eyes cheesily.
“Shut up,” he laughed, turning on the car and speeding down the road.
“So I’m guessing you’re not going to tell me where we’re going,” I said, taking a bite of my muffin.
“Finally, after months you’ve figured out how my surprises work,” he laughed, glancing over at me.
I stuck my tongue out at him and he scrunched up his face, turning back to the road.
“We’re here,” he announced about fifteen minutes later.
“A strip mall, oh you shouldn’t have. Nothing screams romance more then discounts,” I chuckled.
“Come on Banks,” he said, grabbing my hand and pulling my out of the car.
We walked down the various ‘streets’ of the outdoor mall, Luke worrying over this small map of the place that he had.
“You know if you told me what you were looking for I could help you,” I said, stretching my neck to try and look at the map.
