Luke’s POV
She tasted like cherries.
When our lips first made contact, Zoey froze, her whole body remaining still. This should have made me nervous, but it didn’t. Kissing her felt right, and I knew that she felt it too.
I was proven correct that once she got over her initial shock, she relaxed wrapping her arms around my shoulders. She melted into me, our lips fitting perfectly. Our lips moved in sync as I wrapped my arms around her waist. With her lips on mine, it felt like the world had melted away. I forgot about the fact that it was pouring down rain and freezing cold, all I could focus on was her.
I pulled her tighter to me, and broke the contact from our lips, looking down into her eyes. Her large green eyes blinked up at me as I tucked one strand of her wet matted hair behind her ear.
“Hi,” she whispered, a huge grin spreading across her face.
“Hi,” I replied smiling back, leaning forward so that our noses were touching.
We stared at one another, resting in each other’s arms.
“Zoey, get inside its pouring,” Zoey’s mother called from a window of the house.
“I should get inside…” Zoey said, breaking contact from me.
I nodded as Zoey walked away, heading to her door. Once she reached it she turned back and looked at me, her hand resting on the doorknob.
Zoey broke into a huge smile and ran over to me, grabbing my face and pulling it closer to her.
“Bye,” she giggled, planting a small kiss on my lips.
And with that she turned and ran into her house, slamming her door closed.
“Bye,” I said standing frozen in my placed, too shocked at what had happened.

Zoey’s POV
I sighed as I leaned against the shut door, closing my eyes.
Luke. Luke had just kissed me, and I felt different. Good different. Kissing Luke was just like I had thought it would be. I had this gut feeling that in his arms, his lips on mine, I was safe and comforted.
“Zoey stop acting like an idiot and join the family,” my mother called from the kitchen.
I opened my eyes and sighed, mentally cursing my mother from breaking me from my fantasy. I dragged myself to the kitchen, leaving little droplets of water as a trail. I entered the kitchen to see my mom, Holden, and Evan sitting around the table.
“Don’t you have your own family?” I asked angrily at Evan.
He shrugged, “My parents are out of town and your brother said I could eat here,” he said with a smirk.
I shot a glare at my brother, who just innocently held his hands up in defense.
“Zoey why the hell are you all wet,” my mother said, horrified.
“Did you not notice that it was raining?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. My mother was oblivious to most things, but I was a little surprised to see that she was oblivious to the natural world as well.
“Well why didn’t you take the bus,” my mother snapped, adjusting her pink blouse.
“They were out of order,” I shrugged, grabbing a roll from the table.
“I’ll be in my room if you need me,” I called back to my family, turning away.
I walked into my room and slammed the door shut, taking a bite of my roll as I lay down on my bed. I recalled the events of tonight, remembering the fluttering of my stomach when Luke kissed me. I giggled, turning on my side and placing my hands on my face. I felt a nagging feeling in the back of my mind though, like this wouldn’t end well. I had never wanted a boy friend, and I hadn’t planned on changing my mind. Until now, that is.
