Josh stood up from the kitchen table and walked over to me at the sink, pouring what was left of his coffee down the drain of the sink before giving me a great big warm hug goodbye. Him and Em walked out of the house and so it was just my Dad and I. I was waiting so long for this day to come! Just to catch up with him, I've missed him and his humour, he would always make the best out of a bad situation.

I looked to my dad when I heard the door close, and Em and Josh had left.

"Right! Some coffee Dad?" I asked gesturing to the boiled kettle.

"No, no honey! You've done enough of work around the place! Let me make you some." he insisted while he started to pour out the boiling hot water into cups before stirring them."Milk?" He asked. I nodded in reply.

He picked up the carton of milk and took off the lid and I watched him slowly pour it all over my front and down my legs onto my shoes, I looked up at him in shock but he didn't look surprised, he smiled and before I knew it I felt something burning into my skin on the front of my hand, my hand as anyone would, pulled away as fast as I could. I looked down to see my dad holding the boiling hot spoon he had just used to stir the coffee with. Then I watched in pain him pouring the two cups of boiling hot coffee over my legs, I was wearing shorts and could instantly feel blisters appearing on my shins. I could almost feel my skin begin to tighten with the pain. For some reason I couldn't pull away, I just let it happen, I was paralysed with shock and just didn't know what to do. I looked down and the fronts of my legs were purple. I had never experienced pain like this before but I kept my emotions hid and tried to stay strong in front of this man who I didn't seem to know anymore.

I couldn't understand what he was trying to do, why is he doing this? I looked him in the eye and he did not look how he looked just 10 minutes ago. He looked pale and his face had a smirk on it that nothing could describe the feeling it gave me. It made my whole stomach drop, it made me want to puke. It mad me feel like I was the most unsafe person on the planet. I looked into his eyes that were usually a beautiful, soft, warm, inviting green. But now, they were empty, it was like looking into a bottomless pit of grass.

He lifted his fist and the connection between it and my jaw, made my mouth that was wide open with shock, close shut very hard causing me to break a tooth. I whimpered in pain but never said a word.

"Clean this fucking mess up right now or next time you wont be awake you cow!" My father screamed in my face making my bright blue eyes turn bloodshot and fill with tears that just flooded out and down my cheeks, some made their way to my lips and others fell off my chin.

"Did you not hear me?" My father screamed while at the same time pushed me down by the shoulder with his hand to the ground, throwing a cloth at my face. "Have it done before I get back downstairs or your dead!" He threatened me.

I listened to him and instantly started to clean up the the mess without saying a word. My dad left the kitchen and I could hear him make his way around upstairs. I was terrified, I never though I could be this afraid of anyone, especially not my dad. I'm 19 years old, I shouldn't be taking this from my father. Was this going to be a normal thing? Was it a once off? Why did he do it in the first place?

When I was done cleaning up the mess that was made I got a clean cloth and soaked it in cold water, I walked over to a chair at the kitchen table and sat down on it and lay the cold cloth on my shins where it hurt the most. I had huge blisters already, and it pained just to look at them.

---------------------------------------

I decided since my dad had left the house about half an hour ago I would go watch some TV. I wanted to be as normal as possible, if I told Em or Josh about this it could make it a thousand times worse! I don't understand how he could act like this to his own daughter. Why? I've never done anything bad to him. I don't deserve this.
