Winter break came and went, meaning they all ended up back in school. The first few weeks had been awful and exhausting. James hadn't been lying though, the New Year's Eve party at Jewels' house had been awesome. Sparkling grape juice, cake, candy, brownies and cookies. The count down had been fun as well and when it was officially the next year, the after party started. Lyna had never had more fun or had been more tired in her life.
As most people would after all of that sugar, she and the others had crashed and slept hard. The next day, they got up only to use the bathroom and get water before stumbling back to bed. School had then restarted and brought the difficulties of getting back into the swing of things. Thankfully spring break had been there as a helpful god send to the sleep-deprived students.
Third quarter came and went rapidly leaving students to frantically scramble to keep up. On top of that, the summer homework for that year had been released early and the smart students were getting it done as rapidly as possible. The 'smart students' included Jewels and crew who were scrambling to keep up.
In this time, Lyna had finally asked what Jewels had thought of her impressing tactics before she started to go for subtler movements.
"I thought it was cute if concerning with how often you seemed to get hurt," the girl had informed. "I was worried for a while you'd off yourself by mistake."
The sheepish look on the lynx's face had made her giggle. Then Lyna had asked how she knew and Jewels had smirked.
"When you did the skateboard thing, James forgot when he was younger he wrote his name on all of his things. I saw his name on his precious helmet he never let me touch."
Lyna chose to spare herself the embarrassment of asking what other things gave her away.
The group was in Geometry once more but because it's near the end of the year, their teacher chose to give them a preview to trigonometry.
Needless to say, they were suffering.
Bolting for the door when given the opportunity, the group talked about anything and everything they would think of.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask for a while but is Chika really your name?" Lyna asked randomly.
"Charlotte actually but Chika has been my nickname forever." The canine admitted.
Lyna hummed thoughtfully as James spoke up.
"Is 'Lyna' short for anything?" He inquired.
"Nope, just Lyna." The lynx confirmed.
Jewels giggled.
"Charlotte Vanessa Collins." She recited. The girl in question glared as Lyna and James grinned slightly.
"What Jewels Maria Nightsong?" The shorter girl winced. Her name was pretty, but only said when she was about to be yelled at for something.
Glancing over at the chuckling James, Jewels provided his name.
"You should stop laughing James Hadrian Daniels."
James instantly stopped and began flushing instead. Unlike Jewels, he heard his full name quite often when they were younger.
Lyna chuckled.
"Lyna Mary Eversun." the lynx informed the group easily.
"Eversun?" James said with a grin. "Eversun? And Nightsong? Wow."
"Irony." Lyna agreed with a smile. It made sense to her. A peaceful night to a chaotic day.
Then she swore she'd never let Jewels find out how sappy she'd been thinking. That girl would never let her live it down.
