"So we don't need to kick his ass?" James clarified for the third time.
"No James, he didn't hurt me and it was actually a nice meeting." Jewels reassured her (might as well be) brother.
She'd returned to school the next day and her friends had interrogated her on why she was absent. Upon finding out about the visit to her father, they had all promptly gone into overprotective mode.
Now she was reassuring everyone that her father didn't need to be assassinated in his sleep.
"Okay, if you say so..." James said doubtfully. "Just remember, you may know karate and caeporia with black belts in each, but we know beat-his-ass as the strongest practitioners."
Jewels snorted but gave them an affectionate smile regardless. They were so overprotective. Lyna slipped her arms around her waist and rested her chin on her shoulder and began swaying gently. Jewels smiled placing her hands over Lyna's on her stomach. She leaned back into her hold with a contented hum.
James and Chika made gagging motions pretending to choke on the 'diabetes inducing scene.' According to them, Jewels and Lyna were too mushy.
Jewels didn't think so. Right now, Lyna was just trying to assure herself that Jewels was telling the truth and that there was nothing wrong.
Apparently, James had told her the story of when she cut her leg at a playground when they were younger. It hadn't a bad wound to begin with, but it was bleeding quite a bit. Jewels however chose not to mention it. She ended up sick for a week, taking steroids and antibiotics because she let it get infected and start to turn yellow before informing someone it existed.
To this day, James still used it as a reason to accompany her pretty much everywhere. Lyna didn't take it well according to Chika and now Jewels was effectively trying to calm down an overprotective girlfriend without saying a word aloud.
It was far more difficult than it sounded.
Jewels was then reminded they were in school and not at home in her room when a startled yelp rang through the class.
Glancing up she had to restrain a snicker that threatened to escape when she noticed everyone staring at her in utter disbelief. Jewels was well aware that her reputation was someone who was friendly, until you tried to touch her.
Most of the class was convinced they would loose limbs if they brushed against her by mistake.
"You must have magic powers." Lysander concluded staring blankly at Lyna. "Obviously."
"Obviously?" Lyna repeated curiously. Of course she forgot her head was right on Jewels' shoulder so while her voice was soft (as to prevent hurting her ears,) Jewels got to feel her warm breath on her neck.
The serval unceremoniously pushed her head away causing Lyna to huff as she straightened up. Although, the lynx refused to relinquish her grip on her hips.
"Jewels doesn't do people really." Lysander clarified. "She's nice to all of us, but she more tolerates us than anything I think."
"And here you are being all cuddly with her." A bunny (Lyna thought her name was Donni) piped up.
Lyna shrugged before grinning slightly. She felt like a celebrity from everyone's reaction. Choosing to show off, she ran her hand over Jewels' ears and was rewarded with a shiver and the girl batting her hand away gently.
The class gasped.
"You know, I touched her ears once and nearly lost my hand." A raven huffed. "I swear, she had a whole handful of my feathers."
Jewels shrugged again.
"You surprised me." She informed by way of explanation.
"Don't surprise you. Noted." Lysander deadpanned getting nods of agreement.
"Everyone sit down and get out your laptops. We're doing an online survey this morning."
Everyone began splitting up separating off heading to their seats. Half of the room smirked when Lyna kissed Jewels' cheek and received a blush and an affectionate punch in the arm.
"Congratulations, Ms.Nightsong." Mr. Gavens said warmly.
Jewels blushed even darker as everyone laughed.
Yep, definitely not being that affectionate in public ever again.

"Oh come on Jewels," Lyna whined as they left the school. Her green eyed girlfriend continued to pretend she didn't exist.
Jewels had been actively giving the lynx the silent treatment all day. Jewels disliked being embarrassed in such a large group of people and was choosing to show it by making Lyna not exist. The other students from their class noticed the lynx trailing after Jewels and snickered slightly at her situation.
A few students with girlfriends and boyfriends of the their own sent her looks of sympathy. They understood just how she felt right then.
"Try getting all of her favorite stuff," one guy suggested.
"Nothing but shameless groveling and sucking up." a girl had informed with a grimace. Turns out her own girlfriend was being the same way as Jewels but the groveling seemed to work a bit.
"Accept the punishment and apologize at the end?" Another male had suggested glancing towards his own boyfriend. "It's worked for me."
Lyna hummed softly as she processed all of the information. Then she had an idea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyna counted all of her lucky stars that Jewels still let her in her house. James and Chika agreed to her plan to make up with her. It was a silly little argument but if she could get Jewels to calm down a little...
"You're like a lost puppy padding after their human." Chika said with a chuckle.
"It's pathetic." James provided bluntly. "We'll leave you alone."
Lyna nodded at them before an odd thought entered her mind as James and Chika began to leave.
"Wait!" She called after them. They paused glancing back curiously.
"I have an idea, but need your help."
Lyna double checked that she had her guitar with her. After she did indeed confirm that her guitar was in the corner she moved over to grab it.
She had thought for a while trying to figure out what song to sing for Jewels and her mind had insisted on one particular song. James smiled encouragingly before coaxing Jewels into the living room and convincing her to stay on the couch.
Lyna took and deep breath beginning to play. After a few seconds of playing James and Chika moved over to stand next to her. James pushed a box like object forward and sat down behind to hit it to the beat. Chika chose to play a tambourine.
Lyna began to sing: "Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brain-"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyna's parents received a text a few minutes later saying she was staying over Jewels' house.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyna gave a contented sigh as she stroked Jewels' hair from where the girl was asleep with her head on her lap. The green eyed girl had forgiven her the second the song was over. Surprisingly, her way of saying this was to start a make out session.
Chika and James had promptly retreated deciding not to be present for obvious reasons and went home quickly.
The lynx touched her still slightly bruised lips and grinned a stupidly pleased grin.
Settling down on her side she wrapped her arms around Jewels and pulled her girlfriend into her hold with a smile.
She made a mental note and she drifted to sleep that she needed to sing for Jewels more often.
