Jewels' First Words

Daniel was worried.

He wasn't sure how old most children were when they started speaking but he was sure that most had at least said one word by now.

Sieanna wasn't worried. She thought Jewels was fine and that she'd start speaking in her own time. Daniel wanted to believe his wife, really he was certain his baby girl was absolutely perfect in her adorable little goofy smiles.

That didn't means he couldn't be concerned he was doing something wrong. Jewels was his first and only child, honestly he'd freaked out and nearly fainted when Sieanna happily declared she was pregnant with his child.

Then she'd been born with her mother's beautiful green eyes and his spots with the cutest little feet and tiny hands so fragile.

He'd fallen in love instantly.

As such he'd tried to study hard to be a good dad for his baby girl. Which was why he was so worried. Most children have at least started babbling at 6 months but she was a quiet child. 2 years old and not a murmur.

He sat with Jewels on the floor. His daughter was watching the T.V. with rapt interest and drinking happily from the sippy cup. She dropped the cup by mistake and it rolled under the TV.

Sieanna chuckled in amusement as this was the third time it happened and returned to the book she was reading on the couch. Daniel chose to ignore the sippy cup this time and oddly enough, Jewels didn't protest or become upset.

She liked the Cosy Corner even if she didn't understand how all of that stuff fit into the couch. The clock rug worked though, that was smart.

The TV continued to play and the show on-screen changed to a commercial. Once it did, Jewels made grasping motions for her cup. Annoyingly, it wasn't on her blankie anymore so she couldn't get it. Wait, her daddy didn't have to stay on the blankie.

She patted at his knee to get his attention before grasping for her cup.

Daniel missed it having fallen into thought.

Jewels made the motions again.

Daniel missed it.

"Daddy my cup."

Sieanna stood up and Daniel jolted looking shocked as he stared at his daughter. Sieanna's book hit the floor slipping from her lap.

"What did you say?" He asked her excitedly.

"Uh oh mommy." Jewels giggled at the book on the floor. She returned her attention to her father and reached out for her cup again.

"Daddy my cup."

Daniel cheered loudly picking up Jewels and kissing her forehead. Sieanna joined in and the happy emotions running through the room made Jewels laugh loudly.

Daniel reached under the TV and rinsed off the sippy cup before returning it to his daughter. With a smile, he and Sieanna began researching gifted children.

Butterflies

Sieanna smiled warmly as she showed her daughter pictures of the various butterflies she'd taken.

"And this is a Blue Morpho." She informed.

Little Jewels in the cutest little white dress complete with a green flower in her hair and green shorts underneath peered down at the book.

She wiggled on her mother's lap excitedly and she fiddled around with the camera she was holding. Sieanna was determined to pass on her skill with pictures to her little girl so she decided to start early.
