"I didn't know you were into photography." Lyna remarked.
She was looking through Jewels' room when she came across an entire cabinet dedicated to pictures, videos, photos and cameras. Photos ranging from when she was a young child to when she she thirteen were scattered throughout the cabinet. Lyna noticed other pictures too. Photos of butterflies and parks. They were all rather impressive looking.
Jewels shrugged.
"You never asked." She replied airily. She went on to removed an old Polaroid.
"That still works?" Lyna asked incredulously. Jewels proceeded to snap a quick picture of her. She waved the photo for a couple of seconds before checking the image.
"Yep." she said simply.
"Crazy right?" James inquired from his position laying on the bed. "She's always been obsessed with pictures." He munched on some grippos. Jewels gave him an alarmed look before quickly checking her dresser.
"Darn it James, stop stealing my chips!" Jewels howled in protest.
"Chill bitch. They're just chips." he chirped casually.
"Then go buy your own!"
"Pass, that sounds like real work. "
"This has been happening since we were little!" she protested. Lyna and Chika snickered at the petty little argument between them.
"They've known each other for years. They met when they were 6 years old actually." Chika informed. Then she grinned adding:
"Apparently, James knocked her ice cream out of her hand and she sucker punched him. James cried like a baby, apologized and they've been practically siblings ever since."
Lyna all but cried as she collapsed laughing. By now James and Jewels were finished with their argument and were giving their friends expressions of amusement.
"Jewels really has always loved taking pictures though," James provided. "Not being in them, she hates that, but she loves taking them."
Jewels shivered.
"Being in the pictures is annoying. Especially when they use brighter-than-the-sun LED lights and somehow expect you not to blink." she grumbled.
Jewels replaced her Polaroid camera in the large cabinet before proceeding to shrug.
"My mum took pictures and she was awesome." She went on to explain. "I pretty much idolized her. I started to like taking pictures on my own a little bit later."
"Was?" Lyna asked in confusion.
"...she died." James said gently casting a glance over to Jewels. Her shoulders were slumped slightly and her ears had flattened a little but other than that, she looked unaffected.
"It was a long time ago. I'm alright." she reassured.
Lyna blinked in confusion and slight concern.
"But what about Ms. Amelia?" she asked in confusion. "Why's she here then?"
"Because Jewels is still young. They've had people looking after her just in case she needs help." Chika explained.
Lyna titled her head.
"People? As in more than just Ms. Amelia?" she inquired. She kept an eye on Jewels so she knew if she overstepped her boundaries or prodded an aching wound.
"Ms. Melody used to look after her but she was old. She passed away when Jewels turned twelve." Chika explained once more.
"They figured if they hired another red panda it would make Jewels more comfortable with her." James piped up.
