With only a bit of cash in my pocket, I find my way to a store, picking out some makeup and a pair of fake round glasses. In the empty bathroom, I lock the door as I begin covering the most of my body I can with the makeup, hiding my pasty skin underneath. I place the glasses over my nose, taking a look at myself in the mirror. The glasses may be fake, but they tie together my whole look, bringing back old memories from the asylum days.
I finally leave the bathroom and walk alone down the busy streets, keeping to the sidewalks. I find a 'hero' store, some little place dedicated to the heroes of this universe I suppose. Once I walk in, I'm surprised to see a small little framed newspaper dedicated to 'Deadpool'. I walk passed it and look around, but my eye is caught to this man named 'Doctor Strange'. I approach, reading his description. Sorcerer? He can do magic? I think for a moment, then, my eyes light up.
"Excuse me, do you know how I could meet this Doctor Strange?" I ask the lady at the desk.
She takes me to the back and begins showing me all of his sightings around the world, rambling on about fan theories and what not, but finally tips me off with a clue of where he's most seen.
I leave immediately and find the large building on a New York corner and walk in. The place was an empty museum of magic. I wander around until finally I hear a voice.
"Who are you?" A man asks me. I twist around quickly to face a tall man wearing strange clothing and a red cape.
"My name is Harleen Quinzel. I've been looking for you, er, Strange."
"Well, you found me. Now leave." He turned and started to walk away, but I caught up to him.
"No, you don't understand, you have to help me."
"I find that hard to believe."
"Doctor, please! Just listen... I-I don't remember much, about how I got here, but I know that I came through this... this light, a blinding light. Doctor, I don't belong here in this universe."
He pauses and stares to the distance for a moment, most likely trying to put my situation together. He then turns to me and does some weird thing with his hands, making what looked like a mirror floating in the air. We both looked into it, seeing a familiar street. I give it a closer look, then a switch goes off in my head.
"T-thats my street! That's where my apartment is in Gotham!" I smile then get this rushing feeling. "Let me out!" I suddenly yell, but place my hands over my mouth before anything else slips out. Strange looks to me, then the mirror disappears.
"I see. You really are lost, huh?" He sighs. "Well, if there's any chance of getting you back home, I'm gonna need some help. Meet me tomorrow in Queen's at the park."
I nod my head and watch as he steps through some ring he created and vanishes.
Night fell as I made my way to Queen's. By the time I arrived to the park, it was midnight. I crashed on a bench and was later awoken by Strange by morning. We started walking around the park.
"So, why'd we have to meet here?" I ask.
"There's a young hero here, Miss America (read my book on her!) who I think can help. She has this ability to simply punch a hole in the universe and jump through it. I'm thinking maybe I can manipulate that tear she creates and make it into a portal for you to go home."
"I see. Seems logical, I suppose. But it would be more than just a dimensional jump, wouldn't it? I imagine my universe is very far from this, being as none of the people that exist in my world exist on yours. Usually, from spending my time with Batman's brother eye, other dimensions have the same people just... different, I guess. But this place... it's nothing like home."
"Yes, you're correct, which is why I need the help. It'll be a difficult job. Which is also why I need the space." He looked around at open park.
"Doctor Strange!" We heat being called from behind. As we turn, we see two suited heroes making their way to us, one using webs, and the other flying.
"Spider-Man... what's he doing here?" Strange asks the light-skinned black girl.
"Er, He was just kinda around when you gave me a call and obviously he wanted to come along. That's okay, right?"
"Doctor Strange, it is so good to see you again." The young boy says as he takes his mask off. "Remember me, Peter?"
"Yeah, Yeah, whatever." Strange replies. "So, America..." he begins explaining the situation to America as Peter stands by next to me.
"Hi, Peter Parker." He greets me.
"Harleen Quinzel." I reply. "So what's... your superpower?"
"Oh, so basically I was bitten by this radioactive spider and sadly it died but it gave me these crazy powers right, so I can shoot webs out and I have like super strength and stuff."
"Oh... neat."
"Yeah, what about you?"
"Me? I don't have any powers."
"Oh... that's cool."
Strange and America finally approach us. "Okay, ready?" Strange asked America, who nodded to him. Strange looked to me and took a step back, leaving distance between us as he lifted his hands, beginning to twist them around. Sparks flew from his hands as the area around us grew dark, the sun fading out as dark clouds formed around us. They circled, colors flashing from inside them as thunder clapped, a flash of pink lighting shooting out and striking directly between us. Everyone stared in awe, and as a small hole started to grow mid air, I heard my name called from behind. I turn to see a figure walking through the clouds, his arms covering his face as the swirling winds tried resisting him from walking. I tucked my neck into the collar of my shirt as a chilly gust of wind along with droplets or rain blew against me.
"WADE?!" I yelled over the sound of the shouting winds and thunder.
"HARLEY, WHAT THE HE—"
His voice faded out as a sudden shocking pain sliced through my side. My jaw dropped as my eyes widened. I looked down to see what looked like skin-toned rubber in the form of a thick needle piercing through my side, blood dripping off the tip. I stood there for a moment before it finally pulled out of me. As I hit the ground, Peter fell next to me, holding my head up as he placed his other hand over my wound.
My vision growing dark and blurry, I lifted my hand to see the rain washing off the makeup, revealing my pasty skin underneath. I could feel my eyes begin to close as I seen Wade run to me, looking down to me and saying something to Peter before pulling out his swords and running off. Peter tried his best to keep me awake, but I couldn't. Too much blood loss. The pain was putting me to sleep.
Darkness.
