i knew my face changed to shock as soon as those words left Blake's mouth.
"why?" i asked. he looked at me as if i had grown a second head.
"he's bad, Sara. can't you see that? he's just using you. for what, i don't know since you're already pregnant but he is." he looked at me with a serious expression.
"you don't know shit, Blake." i said and started away. he grabbed my arm and stopped me. i looked at his hand them him. he removed his arm.
"what don't i know." he asked.
"you don't know a lot of stuff, Blake. you don't know all the good things he's done. i was with him when he saved the lives of people in danger, Blake." i looked at him, wishing he could be happy for me instead of being held back in the past. in something that wasn't there anymore.
"what were those people in danger from?" he asked.
"you wouldn't believe me if i told you." i said, tilting my head.
"i think i would. I'm guessing it was him who put them in danger, just to impress you." he stared down at me. i narrowed my eyes at him, making them slits. he did not just say that.
"like i said. you don't know shit, Blake." i said bitterly. then i turned away and didn't look back. even though i could feel his gaze burning holes in the back of my head.
i sat down next to Dean, wrapping my arm around his. he looked at me confused, but he turned back to the conversation he was having with my daddy, brother and Sam. i leaned my head against his shoulder, no longer in a partying mood. he kissed my forehead and stroked my hand with his thumb. then i was yanked out of my place and dragged outside the barn to the bonfire hole. we would always put in all our twigs and branches from our yard and dead trees from the pasture in there under a tarp. then when we had a party, we would light it on fire. it's called a bonfire party and i haven't met anyone in Nebraska who hasn't been to at least one. i looked up to find Blake was the one holding my arm and in his eyes was a dangerous gleam. i looked at him in shock.
"you can't marry him." he stated again.
"why not. and don't give me that bull shit lie." i said, my voice was strong but i was actually terrified. which i shouldn't have been because i grew up with him. but my gut said something was wrong.
"because i already claimed you." he said, looking into my eyes. they widened and i looked at him in shock.
"you did nothing of the sort! we dated for what? two years? and when we were in high school! it's been an awful long time since then, Blake."
"we went out for three years." he gritted his teeth.
"and yet, you broke up with me. for what? because you couldn't deal with the long distance for one year until i could drive and meet you halfway?" i asked. he was speechless.
"i told you when we broke up, that i was coming back for you. that i would marry you." he said, mouth agape.
"if you wanted me to wait, you shouldn't have one, broke up with me. and two, told me. because i went to Texas and then on my way home, i met Sam and Dean."
"let go of her, right now, Blake." i turned as much as i could in Blake's hold, both his hands on my upper arms. out of the corner of my eye i could just make out a figure of someone standing, feet spread at hips width and arms tense with fisted hands. it seems very familiar and i know i know him but i can't get a good enough look. Blake let go of one arm so i could turn to see Caden. he was a friend from high school. i wasn't all that close with him but he had always liked me and had somehow found out i was having a party. i sighed.
"go away Caden. you're not part of this." Blake said. he glared at him. Blake had changed i realized, wide eyed. he used to be this perfect gentleman who wouldn't fight unless it was for a good reason. now he was this possessive jerk who had to have his way. Dean was possessive, but not in the asshole way. he did it in a way that it was cute. more protective but he still puffed up his chest when i was around certain guys other than him. it still made me giggle. Caden took one look at Blake and shrunk back, seeing that he would get beaten up if he did this alone. he winked at me and i huffed in relief that he meant he was going to get help. hopefully Dean. Blake played a lot of football so he could handle himself but he would lose very quickly against Dean. or Sam. either one.
"no then. back to our conversation." Blake huffed.
"you call this a conversation?" i asked. "you're standing there, holding my arms to the point i think they're going to bruise and you say this is a conversation. oh, no sure. this is so normal to me, being held tightly against my ex having a little 'chat'." i said sarcastically.
"why did you have to say that?" he sighed, closing his eyes. i kneed him in the groin and he fell. i stepped back, watching him groan in pain, holding his crotch. he stood up faster than i thought and stepped towards me. i backed up, only to be trapped against the wall of the barn. where is Dean?
Blake stepped up to me and caged me, putting one arm on either side of my head and stood, looking down at me. he leaned in and licked my jaw. i could probably beat the shit out of him, but i had known him my whole life. i couldn't do that. i didn't have the guts. suddenly he disappeared and i realized Dean had grabbed the back of his collar and dragged him back, tossing him on his ass.
"you ok?" Dean asked. i nodded and he turned his attention back to Blake. he advanced on him. Blake shot up from his place on the ground and smirked at Dean. he charged Dean and put his shoulder in his gut, lifting his feet from the ground and smashing his back into the side of the barn. i could hear the music in the barn, so nobody had heard it. Blake started to punch Dean all over, mostly his gut and face. Dean blocked them as best as he could but Blake grabbed his color and threw him to the ground, kicking into his stomach. i howled in rage and jumped on Blake's back, wrapping my legs around his torso and my arms around his neck in a choke hold. he clawed at my arms, trying to pry them off so he could breath. but then Dean stood up and punched Blake's face, making his nose bloody. he fell and rolled on the ground and i clung on, my arms now having deep and bloody scratch marks along with stickers and twigs sticking onto my back. Blake finally pried off my arms and legs, crushing me under his weight on the ground. i lay there dazed and pissed. Dean started to go for Blake again but i shook my head. he stopped, seeing me. i stood up and mustered up all my cow herding, calf wrestling, horse bucking strength i had and walked over to Blake. he looked at me, amusement in his eyes.
"what're you going to do, Sara?" he mocked. he was daring me to charge at him when i wasn't ready. i stood and stared at him, catching my breath.
