Everyone deserves equal rights, correct? Yes. Everyone deserves to live a happy, carefree life that nobody can damage and touch as long as everyone is happy. However, when you grow up alone - when you grow up buck wild, nobody can ensure that you have a perfect life.
Distant crying disrupted the older man's attention. The male walked into the alleyway, moving his grocery bags from both hands to one. The man crouched down to meet the smaller person's level.
"Hey?" The word caused the younger male to look up, his eyes puffy and his hair a mess; slightly short and sleek. The smaller boy sniffled and didn't bother to talk or even wipe his tear-stained face.
"My name is George Washington. I'm only here to help, alright?" The taller man assured, his voice calming. The boy nodded softly as George spoke again, "What's your name?" The smaller male hesitated, but took a shaky breath. "A-Alexander." His voice responded in a soft tone, almost a whisper.
"Alright. Do you have a place to go? Where I can take you back?" George asked, to which Alexander only shook his head in a negative response. "I live right over there; it's just a few blocks away. Would you like to come back with me for a bit? I can help you." George offered, and Alexander once again gave a negative response only this time by sniffling and pushing himself further against the wall.
"Hey, Alexander, I just want to make sure you're safe. I'll take you to a hotel if you'd like." Alexander shook his head. "You want me to take you to a hotel?" Once again, Alexander mutely shook his head in response.
"I-if I w-wouldn't be too m-much of a b-burden... May... May I stay with you?" Alexander spoke in a hushed tone, causing George to nod. "You're not a burden at all; I wouldn't offer if you were." George stood, placing his hand out, awaiting Alexander to take it. The boy looked up at the hand before hesitantly taking it and standing up.

The young male leaned against his headboard, clutching his book tightly as he struggled to focus, hearing the loud clattering and banging in the room that lead to his. He placed his book on his bed, laying on the soft surface, fiddling with the sheet.
A click caught the young boy's attention and he turned his head and looked at the door. A young girl stood with a wooden spoon in hand. "Aaron! Aaron! Come play with us!" She screamed excitedly. "Kayla, I just want to relax before I have to go back to the foster home tomorrow." Aaron responded quickly, his eyes jotting around the room. Kayla groaned loudly.
"You're such a boring person, you buzzkill!" Kayla yelled at Aaron, causing the male to flinch at the sudden loud noise. "Your parents don't like me... I... I can't stay here, Kayla." Aaron's voice was quiet as he spoke. Kayla walked out of the room, slamming the door loudly, making Aaron flinch.
