SLAM.

I jumped up and yanked my earphones out. What the hell was that?

There was nothing but silence all of a sudden.

"Liam!" I called. More silence. Shit. Everyone was out and I was supposed to be watching Liam.

Lesson of the Day: Nine year-olds cause hella trouble, so do NOT leave them alone. Especially when you've given them candy.

Now I see why Fiona was so stressed when I was nine.

I ran downstairs and into the living room, where Liam was supposed to be. I furrowed my brow in confusion when I didn't see him. I approached the kitchen and heard a muffled giggle. The sound came from the utility closet. I smirked and snuck up to the closet, only to be yanked into it abruptly.

"Shit! Ow!" I yelped. A small hand smacked onto my lips and I ripped it off, turning to face whoever it was. "Liam? What the hell are-"

"Shh!" he whispered, putting his finger to my lips, "She's gonna find us if you don't keep quiet!"

"Who, exactly?" I whispered back.

Cailee

My aunt gave me a quick hug before I trotted down the front steps, skateboard in hand. Two years of practice, boredom, and many band-aids: What it took for me to be decent on a board. I got a running start and jumped on the board, making my way to the Gallaghers'.

I rolled up to the front gate, waving to Debbie and Franny.

"Hey Debs, where you goin'?" I asked her. She seemed to be in a rush.

"Franny has a doctors appointment and I'm running a little late," she walked through the gate and started walking towards the L. "Carl and Liam are home. Liam's pretty hyped up on sugar, so beware." I chuckled and shook my head as I walked up the front stairs. Before I even had my hand on the door handle, Liam had yanked it open.

"Cailee!" he said excitedly, hugging me tightly.

I giggled, "Hey bud." He ran into the house and I shut the door. Cartoons were on the TV and candy wrappers were sprawled out on the table and floor. Jeez. Got cavities just looking at them all. Liam popped another Laffy Taffy in his mouth before starting to jump up and down on the couch.

"Hey, hey, I have an idea," I started, "Let's play a game."

Liam's jumping didn't cease, "What.. kinda.. game?"

"How abouuut... Hide and seek?" Liam smiled widely and hopped down from the couch.

"Okay!" he agreed. "You count first!" I nodded and turned around, covering my eyes.

"1,2,3..." I could hear Liam shifting and his foot steps getting quiet and distant. Then I heard the back door slam rather loudly. "10, ready or not, here I come!" I immediately turned around and peeked around before quietly leaving out the back door.

Carl

"Cailee!" Liam whispered. Hearing her name made me smile. "I tricked her into going outside by slamming the door."
