Carl

A million thoughts ran through my mind as I walked up to the front door. Regret was all over my face, and Cailee knew when something was bothering me. I'd done some awful shit before, but this felt the worst. How was I gonna get out of it?

I wiped my sweaty palms off onto my shorts and knocked on the door. I heard Cailee's voice gradually get closer before she opened it.

I put on a smile, hoping that I didn't look how I felt. "Hey."

"Hi."

"Listen, I'm sorry for everything, okay? I just don't want to lose you..." There was an awkward silence before she pulled me in for a hug. She nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck and sighed.

"I'm sorry too, I was a bitch," She looked up at me, "Slept fucking horribly without you, too."

I smiled genuinely, hugging her tighter, "I love you. So much."

"I love you too," She pulled away and grabbed my hand. "Get your ass in here."

We both walked in and I was all smiles until a familiar set of eyes met mine. I'd known she had stopped by, but not that she was still there. Carson quickly diverted her gaze to the blank TV screen in front of her, pulling her phone out as well.

"Hey, uh," Carson started. Cailee and I looked over at her. "Gonna head over to Matt's and grab some things." Thank God.

"Oh, okay. You ok with walking back on your own?" Cailee asked.

"Yeah, it's fine. Let me know if Aubrey says I can stay here," Woah, woah, woah. Stay here?

Cailee nodded and Carson left.

"Stay, as in live here?" I asked with knitted brows.

"Yeah, she's in a tough spot. She's family."

I just nodded.

"Is there something wrong with her staying here for a while?" she asked. Nope, not at all. Zero problems. I mean, what'd happened between us was a mistake and a one-time thing. It would be awkward as all hell though.

"Not at all," I fake smiled.

"So you two hooked up?" Lip asked me. After the awkward encounter at the house, I decided to go to my big brother for some 'worldly advice.'

"I woke up in the van with my pants down."

"Was she naked?" he questioned, working on one of the many bikes at the motorcycle shop.

"Just her top. Her panties were still on."

"Well, it sounds to me like things stopped before they really started? You gonna tell Cailee?"

"I can't remember shit. And fuck no. She'd leave my dumb ass. I made Carson swear to secrecy."

"If Cailee finds out, it needs to be from you. Let's just hope Carson doesn't go drunkenly running her mouth. You said she likes to get fucked up. That's what got you into this shit."
