Carl

"Did I just piss myself?" Cailee asked, looking down at her lap. I looked under the table and saw the wet spot on her bottoms expand. "Wait, this isn't pee... I think my water just broke!"

I just sat there staring at her lap in shock. She was calling my name and trying to get my attention but I was frozen.

"Carl!" she yelled and I finally looked up to meet her eyes. "Call Lip!" I got my phone out of my pocket and called my big brother. He answered on the third ring.

"Yo, why are you calling in the middle of your date?" Lip asked.

"C-Cailee's water broke. We need you to get here, fast," I stuttered hurriedly.

"Fuck, Ian and I are on the way. Keep her calm, and try to keep yourself calm," he said before we hung up. I immediately reached out for Cailee's hand, taking it in mine.

"Lip and Ian are on the way," I said. She nodded and pulled her phone out.

"I gotta call Dr. Arden," she said, ringing the doctor up. We'd gone to see Dr. Arden for all of Cailee's big checkups, after the first ultrasound I'd gone to with her. She was the one that was gonna deliver the baby.

"Okay, will do. Thank you," Cailee spoke into her phone before hanging up. "The contractions I've been having all day are real-" That one sentence hit me like a ton of bricks. This was it. Holy shit, holy shit, Holy fucking shit. "-and she said to time them."

"W-when was your last one?"

"About two minutes ago. Fuck, I feel another one coming," She gripped my hand a bit tighter and I rubbed her hand with my other one until the contraction passed. I was just trying my hardest not to panic— I had to stay strong and sane for her.

She ended up having about four more contractions in the time it took Lip and Ian to arrive, which was 12 minutes because they weren't far. I helped Cailee off of the boat and my brothers ran over to us.

"How you feelin'?" Lip asked Cailee. Her, Ian, and I just glared at him. "Shit, never mind."

"I'm gonna clean everything up and meet you guys back at the hospital," Lip said. That meant that Ian was gonna take us to the hospital, which I was happy about. He knew about this kind of stuff, with his paramedic training.

"You two get in the backseat," Ian instructed. I helped Cailee in and I hopped in on the other side.

"Fuck!" Cailee yelped, clutching her stomach and reaching out to squeeze my hand. "Drive faster, Ian!"

"We're gonna be there in no time. I need you to breathe for me, can you do that?" Ian spoke in a calming tone.

"If it helps."

"Take three quick breaths, in and out, and one slow breath out," he told her. "Carl, can you do it with her?"

"Yeah," I looked at Cailee and we started breathing together, just like Ian instructed.

We finally pulled up to the Emergency entrance and Ian ran inside. I hurried to help Cailee out of the car and Ian ran back out with a nurse and a wheelchair.
