Carl

A loud alarm caused me to jolt up out of my comfortable slumber. "Shit..."

Cailee stretched slowly, sitting up as well. "Morning," She said before pecking my lips. I was finally back home— after a little more convincing of course.

"That alarm ruined the best sleep I've had in a week."

Cailee got up and stretched once more, "Sorry, class calls."

I slid out of bed and snaked my arms around her waist, "I'm so proud of you."

She turned, wrapping her arms around my neck, smiling, and kissing me again. "I have to get ready baby. Class starts in a couple hours. And you have work," She went into the bathroom and shut the door.

I groaned at the thought of going to work at Patsy's. When we first got hired, everything was peachy. It was just Cailee and I, no worries. Suddenly, we had a baby on the way and I couldn't help but think about how much everything was gonna cost.

After hearing the toilet flush, I ventured into the bathroom. Cailee grabbed her toothbrush and handed me mine.

"I think I'm gonna start looking for a better job," I said as I added toothpaste to the brush.

Cailee already had a mouthful of blue foam. "Where are you thinking about working?"

I spit the paste out and started brushing again. I shrugged my shoulders, "All I know is that this $9.50 isn't gonna cut it. You're due in February."

"Ask Debbie about who's hiring, you know she's the job plug," Cailee finished up with her teeth and washed her face.

Hmm, Debbie did have a couple gigs before she started welding. I knew she'd have something for me to do— other than selling stolen strollers on Craigslist.

"Okay, I'll ask her after my shift today."

Cailee

I dropped Carl off at work and kissed him goodbye. "Be good, Gallagher."

"No worries, princess," He closed the car door and I started on my journey to school.

I parked as close to my class as possible and made my way into the lecture hall. I spotted Hunter, who was already in the seat next to mine.

"Hey, Cailee," said Hunter, moving his desk so I could get past.

"Hey, you study any?"

He chuckled and shook his head, "Not really."

Our professor began to talk before our conversation could go any further. "Good morning, I hope you all are having a good one," Professor Adams started. "Today we're gonna discuss your first project."

A project already? Jeez.

"You and your assigned partner-" Okay, ew, no. "-will write about one another's life from the beginning of summer until now."

I facepalmed. The last thing I wanted to talk to a stranger about was my crazy summer. I was glad it was fucking over, so even the idea of the 'project' was stressing me out already.
